Hey there,

Lately i've been interested in watching some good anime series. I haven't seen any anime so far except the mainstream anime such as pokmon, digimon, DBZ etc.

Which anime do you recommend for a starter like me? (I am mainly interested in fantasy, horror and action anime) :)!

I've read on this forum that bleach and deathnote are a must watch. Are there any others?

Thanks in advance!

I would highly recommend Log Horizon, Fairy Tail, Akame ga Kil (all on Crunchyroll and I'm sure other places) l, Black Cat (which you can find on Youtube) and one of my all time favorites -even though I hated the ending- is Darker Than Black (that was on Netflix but I'm sure you could find it other places too)

i'd recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood like everyone already has, but i'd also add Cowboy Bebop since a lot of people call it the anime for anime and non-anime fans alike :D got my previously anime-hating brother into anime with these two!!

edit: also Hunter x Hunter (2011 anime, action/adventure), Berserk (haven't watched this personally but my brother loves it, dark/fantasy/action from what i've heard), and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (the 2012 anime since it's loyal to the manga--action/adventure and completely over-the-top in the best way)

personally i really wouldn't recommend Sword Art Online, i just think it's garbage :x i'm really not big on weird harem animes and SAO totally turns into that, plus the plot is total shit. Bleach i haven't heard a ton of good things about either, i think people mostly like it because of nostalgia more than it having actual value as a series, haha.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Start with it and just have fun on the ride haha. Its amazing.

Other than that, for horror/fantasy and such I suggest Parasyte and Attack on Titan. Both are really great and imo pretty good for noobs. Parasyte is probably my favorite anime in the last few years.

Baccano! would be right up your street I reckon. Confusing as hell for the first four episodes or so, after that it's bloody brilliant. Plenty of action, a smidgen of gore, and I suppose the whole immortal slant could count as fantasy. It's pretty funny as well.

Elfen Lied is my personal fave horror-esque anime, but then it's not a genre I watch very much.

Cowboy Bebop is a legendary show that you can't really go wrong with, great story and characters with music that will stay with you for a loooong time.

Darker Than Black is my all-time favourite action anime, but some folks find it a bit of a slow burner.

Can't actually think of a pure fantasy anime that's amazed me, most of the ones I've seen are sorta average.

My first full-anime was Neon Genesis: Evangelion, It's still by FAR the best one I've ever seen in my life. I always recommend it to everybody that asks about new Animes and barely anyone I know has heard of it, even to this day I still thank my cousin for showing me.

I don't watch a lot of anime at all. But I have recently watched One Punch Man. It has some pretty awesome action in that anime. Also another one I would recommend is Hunter x Hunter. It actually has A LOT of episodes, and it is partially on Netflix. But I was literally glued to that anime most of the time.

Kill la Kill is the only anime that kept my interest long enough for me to stick around till the end of it. :P I really recommend it!
Osomatsu-san is also pretty good. If you like cutesy things, Shugo Chara is something you might like.
