I use the free version of Cyberghost not too fond of it.

Hidemyass is pretty reliable and plenty of servers to chose from :)

h t x: UltraSurf is a little app that 'hides' your IP using a VPN. Is my favorite or if you want a different IP everytime you can use the Tor Browser.

Haven't used HMA but i think it has the ability to use specific countries IPs :S
For USA, just use ultrasurf or Hotspot Shield (HSS has 4 different countries: US, UK, Japan and some other I can't remember right now XD)

VPNs are just proxies right? or am I thinking of something else.
