Whats your preference? Digimon or Pokemon?

As a child I have always have been a huge fan of both.
But which if your favorite? Show wise/art wise/ games etc.
I know pokemon is huge for its games not just the show... SO me myself would have to say pokemon would be my favorite. :)
I adore all the games and find the artwork just beautiful. BUT show wise I might want to lean towards digimon.
Well here you guys go now you can debate and discuss some of the best of my childhood. ^^

In terms of games, merchandising, and long-term interest, it'd have to be Pokemon (as it already is).
It just has a simple model of pumping out many little critters to appeal to the masses.

Show/story wise however, it would be Digimon, hands down.
Pokemon's deficit in its show is they are generally predictable, kid-friendly episodes that feature a "character of the day" and have no overarching story or depth (aside from Ash wanting to be a Pokemon Master in whatever league). Digimon has a complete story that plays out over the course of its season/series, there is actually character development and more exciting plot conflicts to address.

In the 'art' category, it's a toss up. I am compelled to say that Digimon has better art because they are more radical in design (unique) and detailed, but a few designs are whack to me.
Pokemon uses a simple, streamlined concept that carries over to every Pokemon. It's like vanilla ice cream. Not bad, but not great.

Also playing into popularity of Digimon are its renditions, I found the first seasons involving 'Digidestined' enchanting, while the series about fusing with Digimon (season 4?) to some battle armor unoriginal. In fact, I stopped watching a few episodes into S4 and haven't seen another Digimon series since.

The team behind Digimon sort of gave up and didn't have a strong enough premise to keep going like Pokemon's "train and catch new Pokemon" basis, hence Digimon's popularity peaked, then dropped off after the 'fad' was over.

Sorry that my signature is distracting lol I just love dean acting whacky:) And I agree with you! I haven't watched digimon past the second season and give or take a movie or so but I really did love the plot. I still love Pokemon though mostly because of the games I think. But honestly I think there both wonderful I know a lot of people who have debates and argue over it.

Though I agree some of the Pokemon/digimon names and such have gotten really stupid as the season go on because they are running out of ideas for new critters. It's best to stay with the originals almost always. ;)

Digimon season 1-3 were way better than Pokemon. Now if they made the Pokemon series like Pokemon origin I would change my opinion in a heart beat :P

Digimon season 1 and 3 are the best, Pokemon are only good at their games, their anime (or game) are a bit of slavery... although i played it since the pokemon yellow... i love being a dictator afterall..

Digimon for the same reason I chose Neopets :P Pokemon can't talk so you can't carry a conversation with them. But digimon can.

i can remember the pokemon movies from years ago and played the original pokemon game on gameboy so i`d have to go pokemon, never really took any notice of digimon.
