So I just let that 900mb file download itself overnight and I haven't started playing yet, so my questions are:

1) What's so intriguing about it?
2) Why do people play it day and night?
3) Why do people watch tournaments and matches of it? They aren't even playing, so why do they care?

Once I actually play I might get a basic idea of it but I just wanna know the answers to those questions :P

All of these are my opinion so feel free to do whatever you want with it. I suggest playing with people who know the game when starting out.

1. Variety. There are a variety of champions (100+) with a variety of combinations of abilities (4 on each champ) that you can tailor into 5 roles (as per current meta). Of course, not every champ will be suitable for a certain role, but trying to fit it and theorycrafting works.

Then there's the actual gameplay. It's a microfest with a macrosense. It's team work. Yeah, a lot of the times you play with randoms you get frustrated. But there are games that make it worth it - the turnarounds when your base is pretty much done for, the ZOMGDIDIJUSTDOTHAT plays, the wombo combos.

2. Because it's fun in some ways. Especially if you're new, there are tons of things to try and learn. I know people who play ARAM (all random; all mid) day in and day out.

3. Matches are a great way to learn how to do shit effectively. And there are the frequent HOWTHEFUCK plays from pros that make you wonder what their apm was and amazes you as to the team work and reaction time these guys have.

As I mentioned though, it's better to play with people you know; otherwise your experience at low levels will not be that great. If you ever play, let me know. I'm trying to level a smurf too and could use some company. ^_^

I've played it... I honestly didn't like it though... I know that people get pretty adictive about it but it wasn't my case
but anyway I'll give you a reply from the point of view of someone that tryied it and didn't liked it

1) What's so intriguing about it?
Well, the graphics and sound are very well done, it's a free game which is a plus and a reason why LoL became that popular since everyone can play it easly, it has a lot of hourse of gameplay, limitless skill ceiling, more than 100 characters to choose from... and well, the gameplay itself has different game modes.. but honestly, I don't find it very entertaining, torunaments and each MOBA run may take for ever (okay, not forever, but I've seing runs going for hours so yeah, you really need to stick to your computer to play)... the community is really bad in the game somehow, and is a hard game for starters.

2) Why do people play it day and night?
I guess it can be addicting for the features and the skills that keep improving depending on your process, so you need to go earning champions and you can plan strategy to ambush the rival team and... well, as any game, if you get the gameplay and you like it, you can get addicted (not my case though)

3) Why do people watch tournaments and matches of it? They aren't even playing, so why do they care?
Well, no idea, to get techniques to use on their runs? I dunno xDDD I've never understand it either

I know it won't help, but anywayyyy.

1. For me League of Legends is so intriguing due to the amount of depth the game has while remaining fresh and unpredictable. There are indeed over 100 champions you can select from all with various roles and their own backstory (if you're into lore). You generally pick 1-3 champions you consider your main, meaning you play them quite constantly over most others and you become great with them and then slowly expand from there. This is a team player game, and if you look at it in any other way, you're going to find yourself disappointed and upset. Very rarely, and only with very select champions and a lot of kills, can you carry the entire game by yourself. It takes a great amount of skill to communicate with your teammates in a constructive way that leads to victory time and time again. For the same reason, however, it can also be a bad thing. If someone disconnects, is new and sucks, or is old and just really sucks, then you're going to have a harder time pulling the win. However, with proper communication and tactical strategy i.e knowing when to sit the fuck under the tower and play defensively, you can generally come back. This is what makes League exciting for me personally. You can be in a game where your team has 7 kills and the enemy team has 26 kills total, and through some very disciplined playing (defensiveness) you really can come back and still win. Just depends on your mentality, ability to lead, and team composition.

2. Day and night, well, much like Neopets there are people who are addicted to League but also you have to consider the amount of time it takes to play a game. Based on the map, here's what you can expect from the average game length with normal teams that are decently matched:

Summoner's Rift: 45+ minutes (My longest game was about 72 minutes and we all had a chat afterwards, enemy team included, because it was a brilliant game.)
Twisted Treeline: 25-35 minutes. (Since it's 3v3, the map is smaller, less people to kill to get to the towers, it's just a faster style of play.)
ARAM: 20-25 minutes (I love ARAM, it lacks a certain tactical part that Summoner's Rift has, but it's a constant tug-of-war effect. Depending on how good your team is, you can have this gamestyle done in shorter periods of time)

So yeah, unless the enemy team surrenders early because you're owning them so hard they feel the need to give up, these are accurate times. Until ARAM was released, I would say that 85-90% of us were Summoner's Rift folks. Well, if you lose your first game of the day, aren't you going to want to play again and try to get a victory? Well if you answered yes, you just killed off two hours of your day basically between matchmaking, champion selection, load times, and gameplay.

3. For the same reason football players still watch football. It's entertaining. There are some fantastic godlike plays made in these tournaments and other spectator matches. You get the opportunity to watch how someone else plays your favorite champion and maybe pick up some tips, or see them do something that maybe didn't work so great that you had always thought about. With League the champion is only as strong as the summoner controlling it ;) So watching others is extremely beneficial for your own use, and personally I love to watch others play. I cheer at great plays and I facepalm at the ones that make me want to die a little bit on the inside.

If you end up signing up and want someone to help you out or whatever, or maybe just play with and keep my mouth shut about your failures, add me xSupporterx

I've just starting playing and I really enjoy it when I myself don't have the time to play I do really enjoy watching my boyfriend play or streams. I am one that picks up games by watching so other people may not enjoy spectating as much as I do.

No, people have added me but I've never played with a single Clraikian. It's sad because I love my CK'ers and I'd heal them. x_x

1) What's so intriguing about it?
Very skill based and tactical, makes you think. Interesting characters, and skins. Great artwork, mostly good lore and all in all it's just a really interesting game?? Like mobas are really cool and different to play
2) Why do people play it day and night?

It's sort of something you can play OVER AND OVER again without getting bored. Like you have to gain IP from games to get new champions or runes, etc. It just gets addicting. You play your first one, you're like meh. Second one, you're hooked and next thing you know you've just leveled yourself to 30 and haven't left your room in a week.

3) Why do people watch tournaments and matches of it? They aren't even playing, so why do they care?
You could ask the same question to people who watch sports. It's the same gist, same entertaining factor.

P.S I would love to have people to duo queue with.
I'm Ghostiee on league as well, but I don't do ranked.
I mostly only play lulu
