View Full Version : Songs that make you emotional...

Elmo

It hasn't got to be a "sad song", for me, lots of songs are happy but make me emotional for the memories attached to them.

Here are a few of mine:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]
I first heard this a few month after I had went through a miscarriage which as you can guess, really hits me hard still hearing it.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]
This is emotional for me because it was always "our song" with someone special who is no longer in my life, we fell out badly and haven't spoken since.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Possibly a strange one for most, but this was always my grans favourite song, she is still here but has Dementia so pretty much doesn't remember her life and even her family sometimes.

Well here are some of mine:

I felt really lost and this helped me through it. (and I love a lot of Adele's songs, they all make me emotional)

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

This a song that makes me emotional, but in a good way, sometimes a sad way though:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

This one is just so beautiful (I love Christina Aguilera songs):

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I absolutely love this song:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I love a lot of Coldplay songs, but this one is particularly beautiful:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I will stop here, but I have a lot of music that makes me emotional: Tupac, Eminem, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Dido, Evanescence, Florence + The Machine, The Fray, Gary Jules, Green Day and I could go on for days haha :D

I honestly don't know why but 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' always makes me want to cry
'Livin' On A Prayer' makes me think of a really old ex but still an amazing song
and Party Rock Anthem just makes me laugh xD

There's probably lots of songs xD but those are the two I can think of right now.

You're Still The One - Shania Twain. My mom and dad's "song". They danced to it at their wedding and it was pretty much their song after that. My mom passed away a few years ago and whenever I hear this song I immediately tear up and will cry if I hear it all.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle. Me and my dad's song. He gave me a book with cute father daughter stories illustrated with the lyrics to this song. Again, makes me cry everytime I hear it!

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

When Somebody Loved Me - Sarah McLachlan. This sounds silly, but it's Jessie's song from Toy Story 2, when Jessie is remembering her past owner who gave her away when she got older. Waterworks!

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I'm Already There - Lonestar. Another one of me and my dad's songs. Listen to the song and you'll see why <3

If this song doesn't inspire a tear then you've obviously never hurt anyone in your life or maybe you just don't have a conscience. This song means so much to me after all of the years that have passed. Remembering the deeds and horrible things I've done. I will never forget the first time I heard this song. And it still holds so much relevance to me right now. Gah. I should not have listened to this right now. x_x

Citizen by Broken Bells holds a lot of meaning for me. Half a year ago I was searching for some sort of verbal expression to what I feel is distasteful about how people conduct themselves in the world (selfishness, greed, hostility) and I had a dream that summed up pretty well how I felt. The next day I was ruminating about the dream, and this song came onto my Pandora station. Broken Bells had been out for a while, but as always, I'm usually a few years behind the hype. But yeah, it makes me cry almost every time. :P

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Lyrics to Citizen:

This is a day without a trace of reason
No matter where you turn
And the walls will fall affirming nothing
So what's it all about?

Call on a bright star
Or play your hand as an intellect
Wounds always speak too loud

Get along for a while, citizen, you will see
How the innocent are bound to the damned
What is, just is, I know so we're trapped by answers
Love haunts to the end

Are we all to ride the edge of nothing?
Shake hands if I deny
And if they don't know their heart is stalling
'Cause everyone is right

Get along for a while, citizen, you will see
How the innocent are bound to the damned
What is, just is, I know so we're trapped by answers
Love haunts to the end

From the moment that we're born
'Til we're old and tired out, do we ever know people?
From the moment that were born
'Til we're old and tired out, do we ever know people?

Nujabes - Horizon

This song evokes a lot of emotion for me.
Majority goes to the artist himself, who tragically lost his life due to a traffic accident in 2010.
All of his albums warm my heart, and it's a shame that composers like him have to fade away from the physical realm. All we can do is keep playing the music. Because that's what they left this world with.

Another small piece goes out to a girl I went to highschool with, who died last year in a weird Kayaking accident. I listened to this album while contemplating life and death. She was such a sweet girl, taken from the planet too soon.

Here I sit at the fire
Liquor's bitter flames warm my languid soul
Here I drink alone and remember
A graven life, the stain of her memory
In this cup, love's poison
For love is the poison of life
Tip the cup, feed the fire,
And forget about useless fucking hope. . .

Lost in the desolation of love
The passions we reap and sow
Lost in the desolation of life
This path that we walk. . .

Here's to love, the sickness
The great martyr of the soul
Here's to life, the vice
The great herald of misery
In this cup, spiritus frumenti
For this is the nectar of the spirit
Quench the thirst, drown the sorrow
And forget about cold yesterdays. . .

Lost in the desolation of love
The passions we reap and sow
Lost in the desolation of life
This path that we walk. . .
Lost in the desolation of love
The sorrows we reap and sow
Lost in the desolation of life
The path that we walk. . .

I wouldn't say emotional, but there are a few songs that bring back memories. Isn't it amazing how something like a melody bring back the old days?
I don't really get emotional over them any more, but I stop for a second and just think of what used to be. But then I remember how much better off I am today, lol.

Excuse the crappy movie montage, it was the only version I could find, but damn, this song hits me so hard. Not sure if there's a translation somewhere on the internet.

I have found a new song that makes me feel goosebumps.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

One more time I stand by
While you choose to cross the line
I don't know why I try
Should have left it all behind
Can't go on, can't rewind
Something holds me deep inside
What's the point, love aside
I have no more tears to cry

Baby, I don't need you
Especially not your lies
You never let my voice through and wonder while I cry

Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Maybe that's the sound that her heart makes
When she's crying out to the one man
Chaining her to love that she can't escape
You would understand if you listen
You wouldn't find her eyes focused on the door
Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Begging you to try just a little more

One more time, I'll ask why
You let me waste all those nights
Had I known, I'd have not let you step into my life
We both know that I tried not to leave it all behind
Even though I explain you still read between the lines

Baby, I don't need you
Especially not your lies
You never let my voice through and wonder while I cry

Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Maybe that's the sound that her heart makes
When she's crying out to the one man
Chaining her to love that she can't escape
You would understand if you listen
You wouldn't find her eyes focused on the door
Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Begging you to try just a little more

If you've ever think of us
Baby, you should think of every thing that you gave up
While I run away from love
If I ever think of us
I will just remember what I went through when I gave up on you

Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Maybe that's the sound that her heart makes
When she's crying out to the one man
Chaining her to love that she can't escape
You would understand if you listen
You wouldn't find her eyes focused on the door
Maybe that's the sound of a woman
Begging you to try just a little more
Just a little more

This is the one dub that I think was the most beautiful Vocaloid Dub ever, and I cried the first time I watched it. The song was already emotional enough on the original, but the girl's voice's just powerful.

Also, I don't know if it counts, because it makes me right down depressed, but this...

There's this cover of Radiohead's Creep that's done by a children's choir that makes me cry constantly: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

Then there's this buddy holiday remix that I also cry to: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

And definitely this track called Our Special Place, by my friend Renard: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

These songs hit me hard when I first heard em. Eminem still hits me like I haven't been listening to that song for years now.
