no but one time at school this girl was reading death note manga and she told me to read a story and it was about some kid who would get bullied and write his bullies names in some journal and the next day whatever bully's name he wrote, that bully would die.

I've only seen it once through but it was one of my favorite anime. If you like that genre then I would check out Code Geass, it's along the same lines of death note with fantastical twists :)

I have only seen the live movies and a few episode of the anime, personally I find the movies to be better than the anime which in most cases it's the other way around. Watching the anime version I find the story to be very boring but very interesting when I was watching the movies version, odd.

I actually started watching this to pass time a few days ago. I was really surprised at how good it was.
The movies were okay though I preferred the anime. I am yet to finish the second film as it was late and i fell asleep though my partner wasnt impressed with the ending.

Deadman Wonderland is amazing. I've rewatched it a fair bit. Might need to do it again.

Meanwhile, to answer the OP, Death Note I never really finished the anime. I will though. Just gotta find space in my Anime-time. :P
I DID watch all three movies - by far, the best is the 3rd one, which is JUST L.

I must say that Death Note was one of this animes that made me go into it on a 100%, like, forgetting of everything else. I was amazed of it, of the characters and the smart plot twists... that's the key on it, the intelligence used to make it. Plus, the manga is so well drawed, I mean, the detailllsss, you see a television on the manga, an it has all the details of the holes where the sound goes out and stuff... just... Takeshi Obata it's a genious.

They may as well have tried to come up with a new story all together for the movies, instead it seems like they decided to try and fit everything in but realized half way through that there simply wasn't enough time, and just mashed a bunch of stuff together xD. Even so, they were enjoyable, loved the anime just actually finished watching through it again recentley. Never read the manga, as I've never really gotten too into reading manga in the first place xD

If it would have remained L to the end it would have been fine, but I don't see how it would have been better, necessarily. The fact that Light basically beats him, and than L still ends up winning in the end (in a way) I feel gives it a lot more substance than just the same chase going on through out the entire series... I don't understand why people think it was a bad ending, I hear that a lot. I suppose I can see why you maybe wouldn't like it, but to call it 'terrible', I think your being a bit cynical. To each their own, I guess xD.

One of my favourite Anime of all times!

The artwork is good, the anatomony is really good. The characters has good body physiques: not too fat or too skinny. Plus, the shinigami are good too in physiques. Inhumanly tall with extremely long limbs, or tiny.

The plotline is good too. Psychological too, and its hard to figure out who's the next step fastest than the other. The protagonist has turned into an antagonist. A girl is devoted to her feelings rather than killing, and she would die for the one that she loves. Besides that, I think the action is good too.

The series is awesome, plus the characters are good to love or admire too. L is my personal favorite, but I won't talk about that.

Light's goal to change the world is good, but his goal has been too extremed and he became too obsessed. That was his weakpoint, plus his perfection.

A great series to watch and read, but the ending is bad. It was sad for me to see it end like that.

Really good plot, artwork is also good, and the psychological battles! Yeah its a cool anime.
I'd recommend it for those that love psychological battles or some suspense.

:( I used to be the BIGGEST anime fan back when I was in middle school. Huge. Always watched when new episodes came out. I remember I loved Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Cowboy Beebop?..to name a few, and definitely Death Note!! It was perfect. You have a great plot, a vigilante, like posted above, good psychological thriller, and just great all around.
Death Note was the shit. I'm sure if I watched it again my reaction would be no different.
