Looking for something similar...

So some of you know that I only discovered and became obsessed (understatement) with My Chemical Romance a few months ago. And of course I have to fall in love with the music of a band that decides to break up three months after I discover them. So yeah, I've listened to all of their albums and singles and live shit at least (OVER 9000) 50 times or whatever. I'm ready for more! But there is no more so...

Kind of want something pretty close to it. I think I'm looking in the wrong direction. Used Pandora to create some sht for me and it brought up Fall-Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, AFI, etc.

I realize some of MCR's songs have a whiney tune to it, but the lyrics and the overal dark tone of most of their songs is what makes me tick, not the whineyness or the 'emo' nature of their early stuff.

In fact, for those of you that know MCR well.. There's only two-three songs I like from before Welcome to the Black Parade...

I specifically liked SING from that album. It doesn't have that "dark" theme of it but I like it in a sense that it's kinda fresh to hear MCR singing an empowering-ish song.

So if I got you right you're looking for songs that has dark lyrics? Or sound like songs from Danger Days album?

Yeah, but I feel what you mean about Sing and yeah it's empowering, I'd say more like the sound of Danger Days to be honest though. Dark/moody lyrics are cool, but I have NIN and many many others for that.

Breaking Benjamin has always been a favorite (though they're no longer together, Ben Burley is reportedly making music with Adam Gontier.)
Bullet for My Valentine (Particularly the albume The Poison and Scream Aim Fire)
Chevelle (This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In and Sci-Fi Crimes might be more your style, maybe even Vena Sera and Hats Off to the Bull.)
Incubus (I don't have any album suggestions lol)
Madina Lake (From Them, Through Us, To You is an amazing album)
Rise Against (Appeal to Reason and Endgame are good)
30 Seconds to Mars (anything and everything by them is amazing lol)
Young Guns (Only album they have so far is Bones, but it's amazing, I listen to it a lot on long drives.)


Those are all the ones I fell are similar to MCR that I know of, with like subtle darkness, while still being able to be upbeat, as well as having some darker songs thrown in.

The Used would be good as well! Uhm I saw them in concert and I saw MCR in concert too, they have similar stage presence so I say go for it. Lies for the Liars and their self-titled album are good ^_^


Duck4Cover those are just like two extreme bands lol, I was like MSI is not for the faint hearted and BMTH is some hardcore screamo so I don't think it's too similar to MCR lol

My chem are rather unique in their "style" because each song on their albums never sound like the previous one, which is great but hard to suggest similar bands.
