Need AP ESSAY help

Im applying for AP Government for next year(Im in 8th grade right now), but I dont really know what to write as an intro to this question:

"Explain why you want to take this class, and what kind of commitment you are willing to make in order to be successful"

I already have the ideas, but dont know what to write as the introduction paragraph. Help? Will +rep

If you have the ideas already, outline them.
Form a thesis statement with the ideas.
Find a quote online by some well known politician that encompasses your stand.
Start with the quote, and elaborate, then finally lead to your thesis statement.
