So I just won a World Challenge and got a map piece from it. My question is: should I start collecting map pieces to complete the set or sell each piece? You can get paint brushes if you complete the map, but will the profit from each piece outweigh the profit from the brush?

i used to just collect the pieces (i would do the one that goes with meerca chase, i also have a guide for that game in the guides section, lol) but i would collect them, thinking i could eventually get a whole map set for free, but it turns out that it takes for frigging ever to do that, especially playing only one game 3x a day, anywho, after like a couple weeks or something i'd break down and buy the rest of the pieces of the map, and the duplicates i had, i'd sell, doing that i usually made some decent profits after a week or so (i also undercut everyone else selling the pieces by like 500-1k NPs)

You won't turn a profit if you buy the pieces.
If you win them from the games, and then convert to get the prizes.. you will profit.

I found an account with tons of these, I converted all of them. I got a few decent PBs, but lots of cheap ones too.

So would you say the best bet would be to collect the pieces and research how much each piece sells for? That way, I could find out the probability of getting a larger profit from collecting and converting rather than just selling individually. Also, do the higher tier map pieces sell for more? I never checked that part out :P

There isn't a huge difference between 1/2/3 in terms of cost :).

I haven't priced them out lately.
But 3 should be the most expensive.

I know 3 definitely has more expensive prizes.
But you need to convert 1 and 2 in order to be able to convert 3.

No I don't think there is a huge difference in prices...hmm decisions decisions...unless I convert the first two maps and keep obtaining and selling the pieces to the third map

It takes a load of effort to compile all the maps. Just chuck them into your shop and wait :P

Alright, so then can anybody tell me what the most profitable set is?

It's all pretty much random.

SS a bunch of games on your shells :D

3 pieces a shell = many pieces/hr.

Trade/sell for other pieces.

???

PROFIT

Yeah selling these things is actually harder than I had originally thought...

yeah, if you sell them individually through your shop, they'll be in there for a whiles, like i said earlier, i under cut by like 500-1k, sometimes even more, and they'd still sit in there for like a week? or something

i never tried selling them as a whole, so i can't say anything about that

I am going to try putting the ones I get today in the Auction House, and then test out the Trading Post as well and see how it goes.

There are people that make money buy compiling entire maps and selling them in an all-in-one format for more than how much it costs to buy the pieces, so someone should buy yours eventually.
