Define the variable. Write and solve equation.

John's mother is 8 more than twice his age. His father is 3 years older than his mother. If all 3 family members have lived 94 years, how old is each family member ?

F = M + 3
J + M + F = 94

J + (2J + 8) + (2J + 8 + 3) = 94

5J + 19 = 94
5J =75

J = 15
M = 38
F = 41

J is John
M is Mother
F is Dad

Jm=2x+8
Jf=2x+11
Jf+Jm+J=5x+19
5x+19=94,
94-19=75, and 75/5 is 15.
John=15
John's mother=38
Johns father=41
38+15+41=94 :)
