Hey guys.

My English teacher wants that I speak around 40 sentences about a video/picture/song... which is about environment. I should speak about:
-author
-description of the material
-message/ intention
-my personal evaluation
-opinion

If anybody is able to do that for me I would love him/her forever because I have my A-level examinations in 3 months and so I need the time for learning. Please send a PM if you could help me.
Of course I will rep!
Thank you!

About someone's environment or about the Environment(as in green issues)?

The second one :) For example we talked about the Earth song by Micheal Jackson and speaked about the destruction of the environment. Something like that would be great :)

Dunno if this is too short/long/what you wanted but here you go. Make sure you understand all the words though, I tried to keep the language relatively simple so hopefully it should be alright.

“Big Yellow Taxi”, first released in 1970, was written and performed by Joni Mitchell. It has since been covered by a wide range of singers, including Bob Dylan and Nena. The song has become an environmental anthem as it deals with the destruction of the natural environment by people desperate for development and more building. One particularly famous line laments that these people “paved paradise and put up a parking lot”. It is written and performed in a style heavily influenced by folk music and was part of the protest song movement in the USA in the 1970s and 1980s.

The lyrics also deal with the ridiculous nature of the tree museum in Hawaii and the use of insecticides by farmers. These images are used to launch an attack on the modern culture generally of disrespect for the natural environment. Indeed, it can be seen that the artist argues for a return to a simpler time, with “spots on my apples”, which she believes has been lost. As a result, the message is clear: Development has gone too far and it is time for us to sit back and consider all the damage which we have done. It is necessary to do this in order to stop us making the same mistakes in the future.

I believe the song conveys this message effectively and helps to voice the concerns of many environmentalists. Its lyrics are clear and unambiguous whilst the style employed helps to add to the sense of protest. Additionally, the song was commercially successful, reaching Number 11 in the UK charts and peaking at Number 6 in Australia, as well as enjoying success in many other countries.

However, I personally disagree with the message being expressed. Whilst I agree that the environment is a big concern and there are many things we need to do to address these issues, I think her approach is too simplistic. Although it was good that this song helped raise the profile of environmentalism as well as being a pleasant piece of music, I think it reduced the argument into too simple a state to adequately reflect the complexity of the argument. In addition to this, I think her concentration on the loss of habitats and commercialisation of the environment misses the point a little. I think it would have been more effective if it had dealt more with the issue of fossil fuels and global warming, none of which are mentioned.

No worries, always happy to help :) Also, it's funny that the topics people study at this level are all more or less the same in whatever language you do- We did the environment in great detail when I did Spanish at IB xD
