Yeah I used to run track and cross country back in high school.
I could probably have run quite awhile.. never bothered trying.
But I could run for a solid hour at a pretty good pace.
I think the longest workout I have done was about 12miles.

I have actually been seriously considering getting back into shape again and eventually going for a marathon.
It would be a LONG ways off, but I think that would be something pretty cool to have say you have done.
I guess the smart thing would be to start with a half marathon and go from there. I don't know how long it takes to condition for something like that though...

I don't like running.

I normally just take my road bike to exercise.

But i've done around 19 1/2 miles on a bike? Something like that.

Depends what you mean. I can probably run a mile or two in a jog/run pace. I am not athletic. XD

I don't really know, never pushed myself to the point where I couldn't run anymore.

Now, maybe 3 miles

Before I broke my leg, who knows? I used to do 5 mile jogs daily, and that was just upkeep.

I don't know miles. But usually running I go for 8-12km runs. Plus I do rpm, rowing and interval training plus weights :)

Question is, what is your mile pace? If you can run 6 miles, but you're running at a 10min/mile pace, it's not very good. If you're running only a mile you want to aim for around a 6:30 mile.

Jose

6:30 is pretty lenient for a pace on just one mile

Can? That's a good question, I usually went for 6 miles when I ran, from day one. I've never pushed my limits, could probably last 2.5-3 hours depending on my tempo.

Back in high school about 2 years ago, probably a good 3 miles at a decent pace. Right now... after 2 years in college, probably 1 >_>

I can do anywhere from 5 - 8 on good nights. Cycling I can do about 20 - 24. I'm incredibly fit, compared to the state I was in last year. Last year I was 252lbs, I'm now 144.

I've never ran to my limit before which is surprising for how fit I am but the most I've done is 8 mill and that was during Baseball conditioning. I work at UPS now and it is great on my fitness and endurance so I could probably heft out quite a few miles.

Since I don't really have alot of stamina and sometimes my arthritis acts up, I think I can last 5 min nonstop of jogging then rest then go for another 5. I can do this for an hour at most. In terms of mile about 1 i guess...

Miles... Oh lord. Well I'm a Track Sprinter so running long distance isn't exactly my forte, but I'd have to say around 4 miles nonstop light jogging of course. Possibly more.

I ran four miles straight for the first time ever yesterday! I'm really proud of myself. :) I only just started training hard with running last month lol. The first time in my life I've even ran two miles straight was last month. I'm training for Tough Mudder next year and I'm shooting for thirty miles this month. 20.7/30 done so far! :)

I lift weights frequently and I wouldn't say I'm jacked but I look like I workout, however when it comes to running I can only max out at a mile on a good day :/ I think it's something about my natural lung capacity because I'm tall, strong, not fat, and don't smoke cigarettes but I just cannot get my distance running up.

You can up your endurance if you run more, more frequently.
Do you think it's possible you have asthma?

I got checked last summer because I thought that and the doctor said no. When I get in a good groove I run a couple times a week and I don't seem to get much better. Then after a while I get frustrated and stop for a while.

My max was 5 miles at just over a 10 minute (not great but whatever) pace. Now, after getting sick and not running for a while, I doubt I'm even able to run one. Trying to get started again. I did about 30 minutes of a walk/jog today. So yay for that. :)

You've gotta keep at it hon. It's not gonna get better if you only do it 2 or 3 times a week. We had to run 7 days a week and it still took a while to get up into running more than 2 or 3 miles. And don't give up when it feels like you're not getting anywhere. Otherwise you really won't. :/

@ that first part, you know, I think people get too hung up on what other people are doing and how well they compare. Your 5 mile time isn't that great compared to other people? Who cares! I know in a competitive setting like cross country it matters for races and stuff, but for a personal best I think it's pretty freaking awesome that you could run five miles straight. I'm trying to get up to that myself! But whether my time ends up being faster or slower than yours I don't care because the only person I'm trying to beat is myself. :dil:
I'm proud of you for getting out and walking today btw! :)

And about the second part, you're absolutely correct. If you want to see progress you have to really work for it. Even the best runners hit slumps or plateaus sometimes. It's all about having the drive to push past it.

I used to play soccer as a striker but we never really spent time focusing on purely running around a track, unless it was off season. Then we would run 2 miles, then do stretches, run 40s (one way and back on a soccer field in 40 seconds), then more stretches, go lift, then run the track another two miles. I'm assuming I can run about 3-4 miles on a track although running on a treadmill I can do much more.
