i always thought of it as k = x over y so thats how i got 3/4

constant of proportionality is x = ky where k is the constant.

If x = 4 and y = 3 then this is the equation.

4 = k(3)
4/3 = k

You can try going with A, but I'm near positive the answer is not located in the list of answers you gave. I might have miscalculated something though.

i think you have to switch it Ciricus so it would be 4/3 = k is changed to k = 3/4

Actually, I think the answer is D.

Answer is D I think. Reason is because it doesn't tell you what to relate the equation to. IE, the constant of proportionality can be y = kx or x = ky. If you do not know which side the constant effects, you can not ascertain the exact constant. It can be either one, given that the problem tells you what quantity is proportional to the other.
