This is the most successful kickstarter campaign to date, raising over $10 million dollars.

Currently, the Kickstarter has ended, but they are now accepting pre-orders for the watch that will ship in early 2013.
That's a long time to wait, but you won't even be asked for payment info until your watch is ready to ship:

Jk I bought a black one :P all else fails, I just don't pay when they request payment.

It's like pre-ordering a game. You're just holding your place in line, essentially.
