It feels a bit hollow shelling out fifteen bucks and getting your dreamie with a few clicks of a button, lol. I understand they're hurting for cash, but dang.

Yeah, it would be really lame if you could just shell out some USD and get your dream pet immediately. Thankfully no websites have ever existed for that kind of thing.

I still believe liquidating an entire (probably the biggest) element of the pet trading scene to make money is a cheap move by TNT. Brainless reddit posters will praise it because "trading is more inclusive now" while ignoring the fact that you now have to spend real world cash to trade desirable pets, boiling the entire thing down to how much money you have in real life, which is the most antithetical thing to "inclusive" possible.

Also related: one of my shells with a few good RN pets was mass-reported by the ban hags and frozen. This account and these pets received zero attention whatsoever until now, and I don't do anything on them, so the only conclusion I can make is scummy people are trying to forcibly euthanize all the desirable RWs now so they can fight over them later. I don't think this would have happened if the trading scene was still obsessing mostly over UCs.

BD Pets and names are all that matter now, once all the colors are out and the initial excitement dies down people will realize that pet trading has almost been completely dissolved.

was never much of a pet trader though, and I enjoy having the UC art so doesn't effect me personally that much, however I'm not sure how it will effect the site in the long run...

I had someone accuse me of being anti-LGBT because I preferred the old system. Apparently liking the old way of pet trading means I also love all the other terrible things Neopets did in the past. Heck maybe I even support slavery! This is news to me...

They're absolutely not stupid. They're out to make as much money as they can get, and we have to hope they'll be spending it on keeping the site running.

I do worry that where they're not as smart is supporting their communities, or quite understanding some of the elements that give the site its soul. Whether you support the way they've handled bringing in Nostalgic pets or not, coming out with 'We've decided to end the decade long pain of auto-converting some of your pets by auto-converting all of them' was quite a take, and there were definitely many, many ways they could have managed it better, even just by being more open about it earlier.

Their thinking can also seem somewhat disjointed. For example, making a move like decreasing the drop rate of the SUAP for a relatively small number of upset extremely rich players because it shouldn't be too easy to achieve, versus rocking the entire PC and taking out a large element of community games with this is a little hard to parse.
