No. No matter what program or who's program, you shouldn't use it. Once the games officially start, there can be changes the regular user cannot see without proper tools. I'm going to check everything over tonight and make sure the current version I have for this year is ready for release.

Nope, unless you want to hit Quad All-Star, you don't need to start on day 1, not at all xD

What's the bare minimum to get the shiniest trophy? I'm on Virtupets and thus I don't expect to win anyway.

You just need to reach Level 1 to qualify for a trophy. But even if you don't do that, you still get the participation trophy.
