NC UCs coming in 2024!

I feel bad about it (maybe i AM a greedy elite!) but I'm already feeling a little different about my UCs now that they're going to be converted.

Not that they're not still important pets to me, I've had a lot of them almost since I started playing, but I did decide to collect all the UCs of a certain species and really enjoyed looking at my profile to see my whole little collection there. And I just think that, in the sense that they were a project and took work to build as a little family, it's not going to feel quite the same to me if I could just buy an item and make them look that way without any effort. IDK if that makes sense? If they weren't going to be converted pets wearing a costume item I don't think I'd feel the same, even if they were indistinguishable appearance wise from NCUC.

Anyway I'm thinking I might move some pets around because my UCs have fairly static custom designs, so I'll move them to a side and move over my converteds that I spend more time working on. Until now I've kept most of the UCs on my main just because it feels like my most secure account and they were the most 'at risk'. Perhaps I'll just keep my oldest and most meaningful UCs on my main.

Something I'm wondering about - we've been told we don't have to paint our pets the color we want them to be so... what's it going to look like on their lookup? Are we going to have 'Pookie the green draik' who is wearing a grey draik NC outfit, or will it be 'The NC style draik' or 'The grey draik'. I think that will matter to (some) people.

I think anyone who has UCs can relate at least a little bit or a lot if they're willing to admit it. I don't think it's shallow either. Ultimately, I think it's pretty unlikely any of us bought or traded for a UC specifically because of its name. More like we saw the combo we wanted and thought "oh that name is pretty cute!" I already feel like I'll probably trade off some of mine or adopt them out and keep their tokens for use on pets that I choose to NC UC-ify.. It's just the reality and frankly I'd say the point of all this. Pets are basically now a blank canvas to normally customize or give the UC art based on names we find or choose on their own merits.

I think that NC UC pets will simply maintain their true painted color on the look up. I honestly just don't know how they'd force the Supplies item to manipulate that and it's probably a spaghetti code issue if they even wanted to. I have a feeling that properly coloring your pet to match the NC UC skin is going to be a "thing" people work towards or judge pets on. Personally, if this is the case, I plan to use FFQ rewards and stockpiled paint brushes/morphing potions to make sure they match.

No idea how much they're going to cost so I've preloaded with a bunch of NC cards and hoping they're at least less than 1000NC each (I think this would be a reasonable max...)

I mostly feel bad for everyone on the +++GMT side of the world (eg Aus, Singapore etc) who might have to wait until the 24th to get them!

I am also preloaded with NC. Had the exact same idea. Can't wait for this to finally happen and get all the details on how it will work. Really hoping there's no delay :/
