    guys i need your help

so i'm sitting here trying to study for my history final and when i read and read and try to understand the info, it doesn't stick whatsoever. i've always had this issue with history, and no matter how hard i attempt to remember the info, it doesn't seem to stay in my brain for very long.

do any of you have techniques (especially for history) on how to make the information stay?
i'm so frustrated right now and i need to do well on this final or else my history grade is in the shitter.

Try taking a break every once in a while then go back and reread the info

Make acronyms, like for the nitrogen bases in bio its gcat
the acronyms dont have to even make sense like it can be 'gfsbds', as long as you remember them

I have the same problems sometimes.
For history, try not to spend so much time worrying about the dates and just try to understand the why. If you understand why something happened, then it will help you remember what exactly it was that did happen. ... if that makes sense?

Like right now I'm studying WWI & WWII and I can't really keep track of what happened back to back, but I try to understand where each side is coming from and their motives for what they did and I can kinda fill in the rest from there after reading through things.
    What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left

    1. Eat something
    2. Take a short nap <- careful if you're cramming, set an alarm

^Eat before sleeping, you'll inevitably feel drowsy after eating.
And if you're prone to acid reflux, don't eat too much.

-Both of those things also serve as breaks for your mind to rest a bit.
-Your body could be flaking out because it's lacking sustenance.
-You could be losing attention and having a cognitive block if you're too tired.

Everyone learns differently. I can't study properly if I keep reading and reading.

What I usually do is simply write things down (make notes). I find myself remembering info a lot easier this way

    Goodluck!!

If youre cramming and have a lot to read, just go through and read the first few sentences from each of the bolded sections. I have had to do that before and from reading that first bit of information, you can usually get a pretty general idea of what's going on. I agree some parts of history are boring, I find most of the more recent things boring because it's just too much political bullshit now a days. I prefer the older bits of history, learning about the different rulers and ideas that changed over time.

If youre really really cramming, you could pick the topic you think will be covered most and just focus on that, become an expert on that. Then when youre satisfied with that subject, get a broad overview of some of the others?

Like SLA said, everybody learns different, just try to find something that works for you.

thanks for your help everyone :*

what i'm trying right now is to type out stuff in my own way so that i understand it (kind of like telling myself a story) and make it seem much more interesting than it actually is. it seems to be working. c:

This, this is probably the best information you can give. Take a break, also when you are studying get someone else to help you by them asking you questions and you answering.
