I rarely get nightmares maybe once a month but when I do my gf tells me I wake her up because it looks like I am fighting the air and I toss and turn pretty freaky if u ask me maybe im possesed -___- lololol
A lot, usually at least once a month but sometimes a couple times a week if I'm really stressed. I don't usually have like fantastical nightmares though, it's usually just memories of stuff that happened irl that sucked, or things that could happen that would be horrible (like people I know dying or having my home broken into or things like that). What's weird is my mom has really bad nightmares too, I remember when I was little she would sometimes yell in her sleep and wake everyone else up and now that happens to me. Makes me wonder if nightmares are genetic at all? Or we're both just weird lol.
Nightmares are cognitive manifestations of certain areas of our brain (current knowledge has a few hypotheses as to where, but it's not 100% confirmed yet), so it is possible to be genetic.
If your mom and you both have similar frequencies of nightmares, intensities experienced, and are noticeably higher than other people, then that's also a strong correlation to genetics.
