While no truly harmful information is being spread and suggested by people making PSA posts on Neopets and in the FB or Discord, I feel like the loud voices who are showing their panic are causing mass hysteria... yes, personal data and cybersecurity are both very important things, but I wish certain voices would tone down as they are only causing people to panic more.
In both 2013 and 2016, we did lose members from that leak as they were disappointed and scared with the site security, but this time around is no different. It really does not help that everyone has been on edge about "hackers" (more or less... especially considering there are very few people who are stupid enough to touch very active accounts) more than ever lately, so the population thinks that it is their pets and NC that people with this data want, when really in such an early stage as this it is more about personal data OUTSIDE of Neopets.
Anyway, I know we have gone over that time and time again, but the fearmongering off site really needs to stop. Spreading information on how to feel safe and calm (as possible) in a situation like this is one thing, but threatening to quit, saying people's banks will be hacked tomorrow if they do not change their Neopets password, etc... it is all too much.
