    FOOD CLUB BOTTER

Usually folks discuss WHO it might be (im hoping its the person who loves their dog, I would do the same for my 2 cats)

but what about HOW? They deal with thousands of accounts daily. What do you think are logistics behind it? All this time (until today) I thought all they mainly did was fc bets

It would work similarly to bitcoin mining, I'd wager. Multiple systems running in the same place following a fully automated process, each computer handling different accounts or different tasks.
Thank you Lyrichord for the userbar!

i feel like it does kinda baffle me as to why they're doing it, especially with the how, even with automation it must have at least taken long to set up all that stuff, and then whatever time to move NPs around and do... whatever it is they are doing for it. do they do it for fun?? i cant imagine that they are doing anything with the NPs except accumulating more and more and more, i would guess that they maybe sell NPs for $$$ but I cannot see the demand for that much points or even items to sell. are the buying stamps/mps etc with the items, and if so wouldnt people have noticed and identified accounts? i guess with so many accounts it would be hard to fully pinpoint but the botter just raises SO many questions for me lmao

To be honest, I've been wondering why it matters that the botter is doing what they do. What's the impact of their actions? Are their activities causing significant drain on the site's resources? Are they affecting the economy in some drastic way with their gains? Are they a convenient smoke screen or scapegoat for the site's deeper problems? Like, what is so bad about what this person does that has them invoked — at least on Neoreddit — whenever Something Uncool is happening on the site?

I'm legit curious: I returned to Neo — and by extension, Neoreddit and cK — a couple of months back and have been seeing this person mentioned on Neoreddit almost on a daily basis, and to me, as an average player who simply does her dailies and events, it seems like near-obsessive hand-wringing to me.

I might be wrong but my impression is that it affects the economy because they also purchase super rare and expensive items so 'normal' players on the site can't

I do wonder how much of an impact theguy has on server lag... Seems like the site's servers are already struggling, then someone with allegedly thousands of accounts is placing bets on FC, purchasing items, etc

Also my bet would be that it's sort of like a bitcoin mining setup like Evelynn suggested. Seems like it'd be the best way to have this many accounts doing things pretty much simultaneously

if the reddit guy is right, it is the player auctions seller who clears 15k USD per month selling NP and rare items which is enough to motivate them to have a dedicated setup i would imagine

to the previous point, if the guy on reddit is correct about the botter, he just recently posted a list of all the rare items that have been restocked exclusively by this person during the month of january. he/she/they AB'ed every single thyoras tear that restocked (same with pretty much any rare restockable item you can think of), so their ability to be refreshing these shops every single second with thousands of accounts makes it hard for regular users to have any semblance of a chance to restock any high end item at all

ahhh makes sense i thought that was probably the case but i figured how much can he even be making to make it worth it. that would def be worth it. i feel like the market for NP stuff seems like its slowed a lot, but i guess with people returning i can see how it could be picking up for sure. thanks for the info

I won't mention the name, but I did google him. He has a store with tons of items. I never thought to buy anything Neopets related except for here in Clraikland. I just feel safe here.

The way I see it is that they have several machines,

they set up a VM with absolutely everything automated, such as changing VPNs once XYZ task is done, logging into accounts based off lists, etc etc etc

and they clone said VM however many times across their machines. The computers used wouldnt need crazy specs or anything, they could have easily bought more affordable ones like chromebooks, preowned off ebay etc, clean windows usb install and bam

As the accounts complete their tasks, it is also automated to where their programs dump the results into a log emailed to him daily or something. logs include the account info, food club results, items restocked etc

The only part that wouldnt be automated obv is physical management of hardware and their clerical stuff like responding to custom inquiries from buyers, and feeding the dog

someone like this would need programming knowledge and experience with how TNT operates and Neo's systems. They also most likely are someone that has been in the black market for a long time.

Who would fit that profile? Is FC botter in the room with us right now?
