Agreed.

Some practice and patience are the key to Dubloon Disaster along with grouping the mines. In the beginning of the game, a mine will be added for each dubloon until you get 9 total mines.

Each time a mine is added, sail your boat between them. They will follow you and this will draw them closer together.
Once the mines are all in a big group of 9, you can mostly sail around the edges and pick up dubloons. It is important to consolidate the mines early on.
Don't let the group get so tight that they blow each other up. If they do blow each other up, new mines will pop up to replace them until you reach 9 mines again. One of the easiest times to die is if a mine pops up in your path right after getting a dubloon.
If a mine does pop up in your path, it's better to be at full speed. For some reason hitting a mine that just popped up at full speed makes it jump out of your way and you won't die. This only works within seconds of the mine showing up. Do not run full speed into other mines.
