    "Logging" out of a program

From what I've been told (and through some research), my IP is recorded upon login and logout (so what I do is I turn on my Hotspot -> login program -> turn off to save bandwidth/faster internet).
But what if you close the program (not a logout button)? Is that considered as a "logout" or technically you're still "logged" in but not doing anything (I assume sessions don't expire unless you log out properly via a browser or logout button) until the next time you login the program again?

Just want to make sure because I've closed/stopped programs without HSS being on and I'm a bit paranoid.

In other words I'm safe and I can still continue closing the programs without proxy/HSS turned on ?

I believe so but i'm not sure, I would just keep the proxy on the whole time, I'm not sure with some of these programs they send headers and things of that nature. I'm no programmer so I am unsure as to what all they send and if the IP is carried with it.
Also if you change between accounts.

I just know that they dont necessarily log out unless you manly log out. if you close and open again it just relogs you back in through a new session

    That's a lie.

Your IP is not only logged on login and logout. There are other specific situations where they log your IP.

As for what you asked... You aren't still "online" if you don't log out.

You're unactive, so basically you're offline, as if you was logged out. The "online for:" neofriend thing won't be here anymore if you stay off a neopets page for longer than 5-15 minutes.
It will be there and running if you leave the program opened. Same situation if, let's say, you leave the home page opened the whole night.

I hope that clears your question

Darnnn I need to be extra careful now that I've exposed my main IP to my AB shells x_X guess I'll lay low for a while.
    Thanks!!
