A dispute was made, so they're aware. Seller left right after my sale though, so there's nothing more that can really be done about it. They had a lot of positive feedback (around 20 sales I believe?), but weren't a well known seller. Sucks because even a middleman couldn't have prevented this I don't think It's not going to deter me from buying again, there's so many reputable amazing sellers on this site I can use instead

Message the mods with the details and file a dispute. I can't say for sure how the mods will feel, but you were scammed here and you have every right to file a dispute through PayPal directly in this case. Keep in mind there is a limited window of opportunity to file chargebacks through PayPal. If you don't do it soon, you may lose the money you spent.

Update: So I looked into Paypal, and because the Friends and Family option was used (so he wouldn't shoulder fees apparently), it cannot be reversed. I didn't see this as a potential problem, as tons of sellers in the trades section also request the friends and family option.
