tamagotchi is a trademark of Bandai Co.
The initial pet we hatch here is presumably a dragon. Dragon is Ryū in Japanese. So Ryugotchi.

I think the original credit goes to possibly GreyFaerie or Ariealle (but Columbidae and Mario kept it going for a while too) so kudos to those amazing people!
