The problem with that though is the need to establish a convention - one which from the start will be "unfair/unequal." Saying "you asked so you pay" is kinda silly, and I think if that idea were to become fully mainstream, that people would find themselves missing out a lot due to the expectation of this, and the hesitation of being the "asker." Since the question was asked about the gay world, a world where there are so many jaded/desperate/lonely/etcetc people, I feel like embracing the set notion designating who should pay would result in loss of opportunities. What should make it feel special is the actual conversation/spending time together/what happens after , not who pays.

Really though, if one person makes a heck of a lot more money than the other... Then I think it'd be nice for them to pay.
But otherwise, I think you should each pay half. If someone WANTS to pay in full, then that's nice and all - but never go into it expecting they will.


As a side note, I feel this should be the standard for straight relationships too. #gender equality

in my opinion we both split the bill.. thats whats so great about being gay.. we both make money.. we both save... we both have fabulous vacations together .. both have no kids.. ahh the good life ... money and time
