I guess the BETA is official/live now

i see a lot of blame and hate being thrown at tnt, and while i do agree that they're not perfect and honestly don't do enough for the userbase.. as far as the kiddish site design goes, i think plenty of blame lies in the company itself too. after all, tnt has stated multiple times that while they'd actually like to acknowledge their older userbase, the "higher ups" have a certain path in mind for neopets that they cannot go against, and that path apparently equates to desperate attempts at making children interested in the site again, which they also did via introducing the mobile games and mobile version of the site.

most of us know it's a wasted effort, but they seem hellbent on it. i do feel a bit sorry for tnt, as i do genuinely believe some of them want things to be different, but it is what it is. all that said, i really, truly am considering quitting the site over this, because as things are i cannot stand to look at the layout for more than five minutes without feeling an overwhelming sense of regret and disappointment. adieu to my nostalgia, i suppose.

I 'quit' back in august (I got really busy when work opened back up post-covid closures and had no time for it) but had full intentions to return in the hew year once things got a bit less hectic irl. This is definitely making that difficult. It's hard to navigate, unfinished, and an eyesore. My favourite part of neo was customizing as well, and now the only way to actually see customization is to go to the old site via pages they haven't converted like lookups.

I also really enjoyed css/html and I'm really not optimistic about how that's all going to work once everything is converted to the beta site.

@[username] - there's actually a good amount of users pretty happy with the new look as well. we really can't please everyone, unfortunately. there are changes that we've heard from users that we're looking into making. this is not the final look at all. as for why now, the answer basically points to flash. it's better for us to set the default to what we've already converted that used flash before.

I just can't get my head around why they would think launching something that takes away basic functionality is a good idea.

I hated it at first but now that I've discovered that I can use a theme other than that awful yellow one, it's... okay? I mostly miss things like an accessible SDB, quickstock and a competent refreshable SW. The SW is the worst for me, honestly.

This is incredible. They got it spot on because...they actually asked what users wanted and used that feedback to develop something great. How and why does TNT not realise this?

I would not mind this except that there are NO LINKS for the Quick Stock and the SDB.

Whoever defined the categories clearly isn't a player. They added a filter for Toys and Grooming which do nothing/ are irrelevant and no access to QS and SDB. Besides, the filters should be customisable - each player knows what they use most.

I'm not arguing against any of those things, lol. I just really like the sole fact that it now just shows 1 gift box with a "83" in the corner or whatever instead of showing 83 actual gift boxes. Everything else about the inventory, I don't love.

Just trying to find a silver lining & at least balance all the (mostly justified) negativity with something that I do appreciate/enjoy.
