(55*15)+(60*20)-380 = 1645
==because $15 average for each 55 table he served==
==$20 average for each 60 tables===
== minus 380(which is total they spent= 1645 left over

So I've got EQAO tomorrow (yay) ((not))
Been going through the practice booklet~
Alfredo and his wife, Jody, work in a
restaurant.
Last week Alfredo received an average of
$15 in tips for each of the 55 tables he
served. Jody received an average of $20 in
tips for each of the 60 tables she served.
They are planning a weekend trip. Alfredo
will pay a total of $220 for their hotel room
and Jody will pay a total of $160 for their
rental car.
How much of their combined tips will be
left over after they have paid for their hotel
room and rental car?
a $1620
b $1645
c $2025
d $2405
Help? D:
(55*15)+(60*20)-380 = 1645
==because $15 average for each 55 table he served==
==$20 average for each 60 tables===
== minus 380(which is total they spent= 1645 left over

Oh okay, thanks @(you need an account to see links) !
I have another:
Juan belongs to a CD club that sells CDs for $11.44 each before tax. His first shipment of CDs costs
$90.49 including 13% tax.
How many CDs are in his first shipment?
I got 7.

Edited my post as well xD
90.49= 11.44(x)+(.13)(11)(x)
you can do the algebra
Maki (01-16-2013)
Here's what I have on my paper.
$11.44- before tax, each CD.
90.49(0.13)
= $11.76 <-- tax
90.49-11.76
= $78.73
$78.73/$11.44
= around 7 CDs
Alright, understood! Thanks @(you need an account to see links) @(you need an account to see links) ~
