If you look at their FB page, the comments are riddled with people writing about tickets regarding accounts they can't access because:

1. JS did the pw reset thing.
2. The emails associated with those accounts don't exist anymore
3. The emails exist but the pw reset request is not making it to their email, no matter how many times they try
4. Some major email providers have (rightly) made it impossible to recreate purged emails to prevent identity theft, so even if legit email owners wanted to retrieve it themselves, they can't

I've noticed the emails JS is sending to everyone warning them of this is going out in waves, so more and more people are likely to be affected. This is only the beginning and they're up to their eyeballs in tickets already. It's going to be interesting to see how JS is going to handle this mess.

Meanwhile, we've got some asshat on the loose wreaking havoc with valuable pets, captchas are annoying lots of people without the benefit of really making anyone feel safer in light of this, so...

Yeah. Neopets looks kinda bleak right now, regardless of whatever efforts they're trying to make.

Checking in to offer what I know as someone who was hacked.

As some of you know, I got hit in the first wave last week. My UC was pounded and the account was then iced. I've gotten a response from TNT about it inquiring as to how I came to own my UC. Which isn't a big deal as all of my pets are legit so I just sent over the proof I had and am awaiting a response. (use the abuse form to direct them to your ticket, otherwise, they don't respond at all.)

I had been active on the PC that day before I was hacked so i'm fairly sure they are targeting people on the boards. I had also recently changed my password so it seems like this is someone not using info from that data breech. I have noticed even though I set up all my accounts to ask for a birthday at log in, its not actually asking unless I use mobile and even then its spotty. Also, the captcha thing isn't working for me either, I just click submit and it goes right through without having to actually do the captcha.

You may all know all of this but just wanted to offer up what info I had in case it helps anyone.

How about the email attached to the account? Was it secure, with updated password and a secure recovery email?

Okay so about all of this, since I'm truly tired of it: why the fuck will we hide? Seriously, why?
Because we'll get our accounts hacked ? And so what?

Save all the info from your accounts, I'm pretty sure there's a program created by our amazing programmers that can bring back our accounts log with items, NPs, avatars, trophies, pets and etc.
Save those things into a file and keep it on your computer or Dropbox (highly recommend).
Save the e-mails and PW that were used on your account and let's force TNT to do something about it!

Wanna change your password but don't have an idea about it which one to choose? Pick one that is related to your school, college or work.
There are names and terms that only your company/institution uses it.

Mix them up, throw some numbers and boom, you got +10 Protection!

Let's do something guys, seriously! Don't let those fuckers ruin Neopets.
I know it's pretty ruined but there's still hope, it depends on us, firstly, not TNT/JS.

Maybe that's just me but I won't accept this without trying to do something to fix it, just saying.

And if you're still worried, give bits of information that no one would ever know other than you. I have all the information that was put onto the COPPA permission form that was sent for my old main over a decade ago. Even if they can't confirm the information, I still think it's more convincing.

i erased the team name they mentioned because i'm not sure if its even right but beyond that to my understanding the clraik team for this year's ac is meant to be hidden from guests and newbies?

It's crazy to think someone would go to such lengths just to be an ass, plus he would've hit accounts from all the boards not just PC. :/
