Has there been a ban wave because of this?

There's been a lot of bans due to this. Both reasons mentioned.
In fact, flight rising is at a point where if you sneeze wrong you're screwed.
It's really hard to avoid a ban, I'm 100% legit and have been for as long as I've had my current account and I'm still scared every day I'm gonna get banned for some arbitrary reason.

i get that they're trying to prevent people from being scammed, but they're REALLY shooting themselves in the foot with this update. but i also really had no idea the staff were so terrible about bans? then again, i don't interact with other people onsite, just in my flight discord, which, i wonder how they'll police if some flight rising discords have off-site trading channels available.

That's really the only way to avoid bans anymore. I don't communicate outside of onsite trades, and I don't bother offsite trading anymore. Flight rising is known to be uber extremist with bans, and known to just shoot you an automated message saying no 99% of the time.
I only witnessed one unban out of a lot, like I was in plague flight's discord when a huge ban wave happened and NO ONE got unbanned. the unban I witnessed was someone who sold out another seller here, but they also got a currency wipe with it.
That's it. That's the only unban I can name in FR history so if someone else knows of one feel free to jump in.

I have seen several unbans before but that was mostly due to malicious reporting from some salty user. Other than that. You’re SOL if you get banned. They really should just do what neopets does and allow you to have multiple accounts with limited access on your side accounts

this is wild, like i guess it makes sense but seems like a huge over correction! i often just give stuff to friends, and all of that discussion is just over discord so we never add anything to the CRs... guess i'll have to be careful

You should make those conversations be on site only, staff doesn't care tbh. If you have the trail on the accounts only you could reasonably be in the right when dealing with a seemingly random ban
