    TIme for a rant

Well, it happened, I got cut today from the team after 5 days of work. Apparently because I can't keep up with the 20 year old (I'm 34), and drinking water every half hour in 100+ degree weather with the heat index; I'm no longer cut out to run a pig farm and do manual labor.

I'm pretty pissed about it, as I told the boss before I started that I'm going to need to acclimate to doing labor again after 3 years working from home for Activision. He knew damn well that I was out of shape, and the first day he had me walk 150 acres of beans in his field and pick all of the stray corn stalks from last years yield. Tuesday I tore off and replaced the entire tarp system of a semi trailer, changed 8 semi tires, and did some other random physically intense jobs.

I just don't get how someone can agree to hire someone knowing they need time to adjust to doing manual labor again after not doing it for years; only to tell them they aren't cut out for it at the end of the week.

    Okay end of that rant.

Then, the craziest thing that's every happened to me, happened to me about a half hour after I got home. I got an email that a company in town was interested in me being the Business Manager for their agriculture company because of my background in farming as well as my expertise with computers, Microsoft software, and data analysis when it comes to formulating Excel spreadsheets. I've already done 2 phone interviews and will do a video interview on Monday. This job, if I land it, would change my life.

    Crazy how things happen.

    Anyway that's all lol

Sorry that you got fired, but it sounds like it may have been for the best judging by the work environment. Good luck with your interview! It sounds like that offer is a much better fit.

That was a hell of a ride of a story. Sounds like you're onto bigger and better things, a blessing in disguise getting cut from that job.

I've always been a supporter of working smarter, not harder. I think this new job sounds like it's right up your alley. Fingers crossed the interview goes well.
Just make sure you make them laugh. I always open up with a little humor to lighten the mood and leave a nice impression when I do video interviews. Haven't gotten a no yet when doing them, so that's gotta be working haha

Goodness that sounds like a horrible job. Honestly you might have dodged a bullet being fired, sounds like that boss was not understanding AT ALL. Everyone deserves a better work environment than that.

That's amazing that the other company reached out to you! I'm crossing my fingers for you that you get it!

Thank you everyone! I'm super excited for this interview, and yes Andrew, humor is always my go to as well lol. I've never been turned down for a job if I've landed the interview but I don't want to jinx myself lol. This could be a crazy upgrade even from working at Activision!

The very definition of a potential blessing in disguise! I bet your quality of life would've been really sacrificed for that first job, and maybe this was truly meant to be. All fingers and toes crossed for your next interview. I hope this works out for the best for you! Good luck!

Honestly from the sounds of it, it sounds like you dodged a bullet. Any employer that isn't willing to have patience for new employees says a lot more about them as an employer. I hope better things come your way!

I dont believe everything happens for a reason. But I do love a good story when it does work out!

I hope the new job pans out. Seems you're already better off so I wouldn't let it get you down!!

I've worked in Law Enforcement the last 7 years and am likely quitting to start a new career path in the next few months.

I'm worried I'll face similar obstacles. I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors!!
