A starchy vegetable. A root. Similar to a potato but a bit sweeter, the purple ones at least. Frankly it is just dull and plain. I prefer potatoes.

Anything deep fried would be good. From a fast food joint, meh.

Taro though is similar to a potato, more so when it is raw like you said.
