Viacom sold Neopets to JumpStart

I mean apparently TNT will be comprised of essentially the same people as before, but I certainly do hope that Jumpstart gets them to reprioritize

I'm just hoping that maybe JumpStart will fix certain aspects of the site that haven't been updated in a while, or maybe new plots or something. Everyone can criticize the fact that JumpStart might attract a younger audience to Neopets but I'm sure most of us started playing Neopets when we were younger. Maybe having a younger group of people start playing will just mean more people playing in the future which will mean Neopets actually stays alive longer.

And just a disclaimer, I'm not really entirely for or against the transfer of site ownership, I guess I kind of just pinned myself to the anti-corner after my first post (it's easy to just continue to debate along the lines you started out with, and it's easy to debate a side without really believing in it)

The only thing I can say for sure is that now it will potentially be even more embarrassing if I tell someone that I play Neopets because then they might associate it with Jumpstart, a game that most people I know would associate as being for really young kids. (People are still a bit incredulous when I insist that the Neopets' player base is consisted, in great parts, of adults. You can feed them the facts, but when they have a pre-existing bias, it'll take a lot of effort to shift it.) Yeah, most people in the world probably didn't even know that Neopets was bought by Viacom to begin with, but still.

I can see why this could potentially be successful and a good move on JumpStart's end, but I'm still a bit torn here. I'm really hoping that by this "older audience" statement, they do indeed refer to young adults as opposed to sixth graders, which appears to be the higher end of their audience when it comes to their other products.

Great point about them caring about Neopets, though. Hopefully they'll run the site more like Adam and Donna did way back. Viacom kinda created a monster, for the most part. xD

Whoever thinks this is not good news is mistaken. I have followed the JumpStart stocks for the past year and they are doing big things commercially. This will mean more advertisement for the site via their own website which has tons of users. So I would think this is good news for Neopets

Personally, I am TOTALLY excited for this. I was horrified at first, seeing JumpStart's typical audience, but knowing JumpStart has made the purchase with the older players in mind, my excitement is now THROUGH THE ROOF WOOPWOOP BRING IT.

Also, I don't think Viacom selling=Neo's going down. Keep in mind Viacom didn't just sell it-- JumpStart bought it. There's an interest in it.

Also, consider the fact that Nick is more oriented towards TV shows and such. JumpStart specializes in actual games and apps. I think this means good things for the future!

Though I am wondering if I should snap up the illegit things i want NOW... They did say the staff won't change, but will they start cracking down under new management? Thoughts? (Obviously this won't happen right away; their hands are full at the moment.)
