Lost access to my Tumblr account

I made a Tumblr blog a year or so ago, messed around with it for a while, and then decided it wasn't for me. I changed the email address in January of this year so that I wouldn't get any more annoying notifications, and left the blog out there to rot.

I'm cleaning up my internet presence, and want to delete that blog now... but I have literally no idea what I changed the email address to. I've checked every shell email account I can ever remember using, but I haven't found anything. Whatever the email is now is either something I'm completely blanking on, or something I don't have access to and never did (though I am hoping I wasn't stupid enough to use a throwaway email for something like that).

I'm pretty sure I could prove that it's my blog (wayback machine has a snapshot of the blog with a selfie of me on it, it's got pictures of my rather distinctive looking dog on it, etc), but Tumblr support doesn't seem interested in my in-depth ways of proving my identity.

Not sure if any of you have gone through this, but suggestions are welcome. Will +rep. Thanks guys.

I had tumblr support reset my email for me when I forgot it, I sent them my username, my password, and the IP address I registered the account on (my home one) and it was sufficient enough for them to let me know the email. Have you tried asking if it would be possible to provide that kind of info in order to retrieve the email associated with it? Tumblr support is hella slow, they could probably give TNT a run for their money in the "no-shits-given" department.

If they don't get back to me by tomorrow, I'll try re-asking for help.

Told them in my first email that I could prove the account was mine, gave password, town/state where account was registered/where I spent the most time using it (I've changed ISPs since I created the account, don't know if I could get the original IP back), and date I changed the email. Probably not sufficient, but I told them I could give them further details if needed as well.

The reply I received was this:

Hello,

I’m really sorry about this! But since security is a top priority to us, we can’t give out the login info for an account unless we’re absolutely certain we’re giving it to the owner. And as much as we sympathize with your dilemma, we have to honor the existing email address and password combination. You’re welcome to create a new account at (you need an account to see links), and we hope we’ll see you again soon on Tumblr.

How long ago did you get your account email reset? I'm hoping there hasn't been a change in policy since then. If it wasn't too long ago, I'll try going for a fresh start tomorrow.

I know for certain that I can provide them with the address where the Tumblr account was used most often, my password, and the previous email... if anyone knows anything about finding past IP addresses, hmu.

If there's a selfie of you on the blog, you can offer to submit a picture of you holding up a picture ID (could be school or whatever, I think?). I've had a friend do that when they had a similar problem. Good luck!

Unfortunately there's not actually a selfie on the blog, but the Wayback Machine (internet archive) clearly shows a time when there was one. Hopefully it's good enough. Thanks for the advice!
