Haven't been as active lately as in the past - but I try to check in every so often. What have you guys been doing to keep busy in quarantine? I feel like I have been busier than normal, not only with life stuff but with work too. It's crazy.
In the past six months I moved out of the city, got sent letters from two different lawyers for real estate qualms, bought an engagement ring, got engaged & bought a house, paid off my car, am looking at a road trip across the country to get a husky puppy, and tons of wild shiiit in between.
Figured maybe I'd churn up some convos. Do you guys have any goals you've been working on while you may have some extra downtime?

Sounds like you've had a very positive and productive time, @(you need an account to see links)! Congratulations on the house, engagement and forthcoming puppy! I haven't had any extra downtime. We had online learning for a couple of weeks in May, but even then it was busier than ever for teachers. I envy those who have extra time.

We were online until May 22nd and have been back face-to-face since then. Australia's semesters are on different times to yours, so we've had a 2 week holiday in July, but other than that have been at it constantly. We're at the end of week 5 of this term. I actually really enjoyed the online, particularly recording lessons. It worked well to engage the people who wanted to learn, while meaning behaviour management of those who didn't was a non-issue. Starting your teaching career in this way would be really tough though. Does it look like her area will return any time soon?
Geez this is a bit of a blast from the past. I remember buying a heap of neo stuff from @(you need an account to see links) on another forum like 9-10 years ago!
Glad to see youre still floating around. Congrats on the house and engagement! Huge milestones!
Good luck with the husky puppy. Ive raised 2 husky pups myself. Very beautiful, loyal companions but do need a lot of work. Theyre the kind of breed that really shines the more you let them into your life.

Foreverrrr ago man! Thank you! How's things going over there?
You might have to drop me some tips on how you managed your huskys. I keep hearing they are a lot of work, but that they are great dogs. We already have a rescue from Puerto Rico from that hurricane a few years back. I think she needs a friend. Got a masssive yard too, just have to husky-proof it so the little guy can't get out. I've been working from home since March and I don't see it letting up anytime soon, so it seems like a good time.
That's true. Our semesters here are just starting up in a few weeks. I can imagine the online classes have their pros and cons, depending on what grades you teach. She's doing kindergarten so I think that might make it a little difficult. They are doing the fall semester entirely online at this point I believe. Maybe things will settle down and they will change that decision halfway though - fingers crossed!

I'm about to start my teaching career next week. Kids don't go back til 9/8, but we go back next Thursday.
Not looking forward to my first full year teaching this way. It is going to be so hard on us and the kids.
Sooo happy to hear about all the good going on in your life! I'm glad to see all is well!
I usually try my best to convince people to
NOT get a husky. I always see so many getting rehomed because people dont realise how difficult and overwhelmingly energetic they can be. If people can still handle that theyre literally one of the most fun, compassionate, unique and loyal dog breeds there is.
The absolute best things for a husky pup are socialisation with other people and dogs, which is probably a bit tricky at the moment.
And train, train, train. Putting in the hard yards in the first 12 months will save your sanity later. Theyll dig holes, chew stuff, destroy stuff. One of mine ate and destroyed our orange tree. A freakin tree!
Also, Im gonna need photos. I go weak at the knees when I see husky puppies.

What grade are you going to be teaching? It’s hard for me to imagine going through school online. I did it in college, but that’s a bit different. I know my sister is hoping the kids have to come by the school to pick stuff up. She wanted to take a Polaroid with each one to make sort of a class picture to at least make them feel like a class while they are distanced.
My fianc is worried a husky pup would be a handful too, but I’ve always always wanted one. We live 5mins from a park with a popular dog beach so that’s definitely an option for social interaction. Lots of close friends with dogs, plus our current dog. So interaction might be surprisingly easy. It’s just laying down the law early on so he doesn’t get too crazy.
We have a huge yard and some parts have a little gap between the fence and the grass so I’d need to fix that up for since I know they are escape artists. I haven’t had a puppy before but she has so I’m sure that will come in handy. But I’d never get one just to rehome them, I’m all about doing the research first to know what to expect and how to handle it, hopefully! Haha
whenever we do take the leap I’ll definitely share pics though!

It would reveal my identity if I went into too great specifics but I'll just say I've been hard at work with my hobbies. And gained a small amount of fame in some smaller time communities.
Sadly they're such small time communities that it'd be easy to find them, and me as a result if I mentioned specifics (unpopular video game and or cartoon series. Along with a specific musical community that's very underground.) But of the communities I can mention, I've been insanely involved in the pokemon community. I love it.
The downside is I almost completely quit petsites because my new communities are taking up all my time. (Given my addiction to them it's probably best I'm finding a new path.)
I'm happier with myself than I've ever been though, I've completely lost myself in my communities lately. I found out my talents in life are exclusively of artistic pursuits and I've grown to be okay with that. I'm trying to make the best of the situation at hand.
