Event FAQ says that day 1 will be a day and a half, running through April 9th. You still can win the bonus prize ;D

Yes, most of the items are junk, but some books/cute wearables prices tends to rise through the years. Examples:
Some 2016 prizes:
Galaxy Hair with Flower Accessory - used to be 5k and it's about 25-30k now
Easter Treats Stamp - used to be about 40k and it's about 200k now
Some 2017 prizes:
Avocado Cookbook (bookstatic book) - used to be about 7k and now it's 400k
Willowed Dress - used to be less than 1k and it's about 7k now

Yeah it seems it's definitely worth it to keep the usual valuables. Stamps, wearables, books etc. can all sell well when they become more rare
