Oooh I love Grinch omg lol. Yes, I'm definitely waiting to see his personality, I'm hoping that I'll know immediately once I play with him for a bit
OMG though I'm so glad you get the posh feel for Basil too hahaha
And yep, Merlot after the wine - my favourite I feel like it'd fit a posh female cat too though.
It would be suuuuper cute to have matching names for a male and female pair, and I keep seeing everywhere that it's better for kittens to be adopted in pairs, but I won't have the resources to adopt another one right now...if it really ends up being better for the kitty I'll look into fostering ahhhhh
OOOO good thinking!!! And I know right, rip lmaoOriginally Posted by Maisie
AHH okay so. I'm going in to see them today so pics will be up later, but I'm really excited to say that my S/O and I are going to end up adopting 2 kittens. There were three and one got snatched up leaving two closely bonded orange guys. Their names will be Bourbon and Scotch how cute is thaaattt
(Special mention to Cheeto and Frito, those were close runner up names lol)
I was initially worried about adopting 2, I didnt want to if i didnt have to, because of the added cost to vet bills. But my S/O really wanted another anyway so he didnt mind. So i guess I find myself now with two princes :")

Aww man, Bourbon and Scotch - that is incredibly cute.
The only thing better than 2 kittens, is obviously three. Good luck with the visit

OKAY GUYS finally got them!!
They're mad hyper right now, running up and down the stairs, wrestling each other lol. Here are my handsome boys <3
I seriously cannot tell them apart yet haha
I was bad and let them out of their carrier during the car ride to my apartment because they wouldn't stop yowling :/ Ahh
One is a little bit more relaxed than the other, but the hyper one loves to groom his brother ~

Lovely cats you've got there!
Speaking as another cat veteran, a few tips:
If you have furniture you don't want them to scratch on;
- First, make sure they have their own furniture (that does NOT have anything that feels like carpeting or fabric on the scratchy bits, because they won't learn the difference between your furniture and theirs.)
- Second, to protect your furniture while they learn get yourself some clear Scotch mailing tape and put that over the furniture you want to protect, be sure to overlap the edges so a claw can't get through. If their claws can't catch, they don't get the reinforcement they want, so they'll move to something that "feels right" i.e. their scratcher. Do not waste your money on the same thing from petstores.
- Third, get yourself a squirt bottle, one that has a good stream setting that can shoot water at least 8 feet. You want to use that to teach your cats 2 of the three commands they need to know. "No" and "Get Down" (or variants). When they are scratching on something they shouldn't, say their name and 'No!' to get their attention, 'No' a second time so they clearly hear the word, 'No' one last time and then squirt 'em with water until they run away from what they're doing.
Do not chase them with the water and do not stand up if you're sitting somewhere or move towards them, the idea is that you can say No from wherever you are and they stop and leave whatever it is alone. But if you make a move towards them it teaches them to wait for you to move instead of listening for the word.
- "Get Down" works the same way, but is mostly to teach them to get down from tables or counters, same thing of repeating the command 3 times and on the third, you squirt until they're on the floor. So they learn that 'Get Down' means "I'd better stop what I'm doing and get on the floor or I'm going to get wet." The first time you save your plate of dinner on the kitchen counter with a well-timed Get Down...
Oh, and cats are delightful little mercenaries, what they won't do for treats. But unless you're fortunate enough to have a cat that lives for petting, you're going to have to pay them.
I'm gonna say you're lucky you have two, now you can really compare the personalities, cats are fantastic pets and you're in for a great time. Welcome to the club.
