    Members vs. Guests

We always seem to have a lot of people on the site that don't take the time to register. Really though, the only thing that they can't see is links and what? Neopets Trades?. I think we should force them to register since our little Register or Die girl isn't very demanding enough. Just a thought, right now we have 23ish members online and 138 guests. Aside from more outward advertising, this could be a way to get more people to join and be a part of the community and some much needed buyers.

More members = More people that could see Neopets Trades = More potential sales

I personally agree. I understand that a lot of people lurk, before they decide to join (I did as well), but I think we need to not allow them to lurk that much, because I believe that more than half of the lurkers, lurk all the time, however they just don't sign up, because there really isn't a big need to.

I think, if most of the sections were like the Trades section and people couldn't see it, until they actually signed up, we would have a lot more new members, which in turn means more sales, activity and all that other good stuff.

At the same time, I feel like there should be like a notice (like with the register or die) of what sections they would be able to see once they signed up, because I know that in the very beginning when I was lurking, I didn't think this forum had a trades section.

We could have a trial time that they could lurk?
Like after a certain amount of lurking, they can't see ANYTHING pretty much?
    If that's possible, idk.

Well I was lurking another forum that did that, however once you remove your cookies, then your trial period just starts from new.
    So that wouldn't actually work.

At some point someone is going to get tired of constantly removing their cookies and actually sign up...
Unless they enjoy putting themselves through the inconvenience of it all.

I don't think it's a good idea to force them to register.
The way it is now gives them the ability to know what's going on within the community. When given a reason to join they'll join.
Blocking them out even more now will just make them go somewhere else.

If I'm not wrong most of the guests are actually spiders or crawlers by search engines. Lately we've got a lot of new members leading to more forum activity, and so attracting more spiders from Google and so more 'guests'.

Well the rankings for CK on google suck so if they're spiders Idfk what's going on. If you do a search for neopets cheating forums, all the others, including the new one, come up before CK. It's kind of aggravating for my loyalist self.

I think Joe tried to make it so guests couldn't see spoilers, but it ended up not working too well. But if we could get that working, it would be a great idea! I know a ton of people lurk spam to see what we are up to, they like to see what all the cheaters are doing lol.

Im sure they are part of the guests, but that many?
    What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
