November 10th Xbox will release its latest Xbox
Series X
Looks like something out of The 5th Element...
2 days later November 12th PlayStation will be releasing its PS5.
Looks like an internet modem...
Neither look visually appealing but just based on looks alone I think I'd lean towards the PlayStation.
Are you guys excited for either and why?
If you had to choose one which would you pick and why?
As an amateur gamer I grew up on PlayStation 1 and 2 and switched to Xbox with the release of the 360 and that was the last console I played on. I haven't played on either in over 4 years. Now my husband wants to get one because a few of our friends play religiously. Their opinions are mixed on which is the best. I'm sure that's everywhere, but looking for your guys input before we commit to buying.

Hard decision for sure
(you need an account to see links) lays out the specs for both pretty nicely.
Loving how the xbox is going to be backwards compatible, that's always a win.
PS5 has some pretty great looking games already announced too.
This is difficult lol But will probably go with the PS5 first then grab the Xbox later on
Thank you to carrottea for the lovely userbar

Hm... those don't like PC Master Race to me... ;D
In all seriousness though, I'm getting both systems, because I'm tired of only owning one console every year when scummy Microsoft/Sony still insist on the dated and idiotic concept of 'console' exclusives.
No game should be exclusive to any platform unless it's a hardware issue. Only consoles insist on keeping up this practice, and it's annoying. Especially with Bethesda getting bought out recently. If they make any future games console exclusive, they're shooting themselves in the foot.

This made me lol.
I'll be going with Playstation. I've never owned an Xbox and Xbox games has yet to put out content that makes me want to switch. I'm a final fantasy brat and 16 will be a PS5 exclusive (at least at first). I do agree with @(you need an account to see links), console exclusive games are shit. I also miss the days of backwards compatibility so that's a huge plus for the new xbox if you're an xbox player.

If i buy one i'm leaning towards the Xbox (series X: why the hell didn't they make that circle white on the series S? ) for the moment.
This is however just based upon the promised stable specs for most components whereas the PS5 is opting for variable specs.
in the end what will sway me will be exclusives though so i'll have to investigate more if and when i decide i want one. atm our TV is too old skool to even accept either one as output so not gonna be for anytime soon

I will personally be getting the PS5 as i have always been loyal to sony since the PS1 was released all those years ago.
I thought about getting the digital version but i am swaying towards the normal version as i enjoy going to the store and actually looking at the games and buying them for my collections
What do you guys think and will you buy any of them?

Going for the PS5, the disc version!
I've been a Sony fan since PS1, and won't be straying from the system now. There are a few exclusives that are HYPEEE (God of War 2, FF16, Godfall-though I think that might head to Xbox later on) and not really any exclusives that stand out for Xbox right now. Fable does seem tempting but just not enough to pounce on a new system over it. Not a fan of console exclusives, but with Microsoft getting Bethesda, what wouldforcemake me to grab an Xbox at some point would be if the next Elderscrolls is a system exclusive for them. Idk if they would really do that or not though.

The PS5 can push through data at 5.5 GB per second, compared to the Xbox Series X, which works at 2.4GB per second. That could mean marginally faster load times, and less time spent on a loading screen. Both consoles are evenly matched elsewhere. They each have 16 GB of memory and support 4K and 8K resolution gaming
