My computer is being used as part of a bot network, I obviously have no idea what for. Noticed when I opened up Savant upon starting my comp today. There are 50+ requests being made, from one or two ip addresses that aren't mine. I addition, my ISP today gave me the lovely notification that I have bot traffic coming from my computer.
I have a shitload of adware killing my browsing experience as it is, but botware isn't something I'm equipped to fight. Anyone know what to do here?

Block its internet access through your firewall. I'm not sure, cant be of much assistance here
Back up your important files and reformat your computer. Not very hard if you have the Windows disc.
Just pop the disc in and reboot -> hit F7 or F8 when the BIOS screen comes up immediately and boot from disc -> Follow through + make sure you format your harddrive when it comes to that option.

^I actually had to do that because I made a stupid mistake, DLed something from Usenet (It was an executable that had a folder icon and it was like 3 or 4 AM -_-) and noticed outgoing traffic to a random IP I didn't know XD.
But yeah... I'd do that only as a last resource. Its your best bet tho'

Do u have a copy of the .exe? Alot of these botnets are thrown together and have vulnerability in that can let people take over the botnet. Just out of interest ..
There's a bunch of Google Dorks that let you find logins to Zeus Botnets, it's pretty fun trying to find some pretty common vulnerabilities in them and just messing with the slaves.Originally Posted by DarkByte

Go to hackforums.net, go to the white hat section and look for otl follow their instructions and they will remove it for you.
Wish i had seen this 2 weeks ago. I used DBAN on my laptop and now can't install window with the cd.
