    I find this advert somehow...loveless. Like they didn't make an effort. You see some stock people on the phone, fashion fever (there are so many awsome games...) and a poor yellow bar.
    Sounds mean, but it didn't awake nostalgic feelings.


    some time there was an awsome pokemon advert. It was for Pok�mon GO - the buddy function. It futures a boy who gets an stuffed squirtle and than has the digital squirtle as an adult. I was alsmost in tears. It hit right into the nostalgia.
    Or the one for Sun&Moon. Nintendo managed to adress children AND adults.


    Why not here? NP could have featuring a girl/boy who plays on neopets (with old layout) and than a time skip. Now as an adult with child(ren) playing on phone or tablet. featuring different games , the fun collecting avatars, special events like altador oder advent calendar, customizing your pets and so one?

    I did not like the video at all. It seems made by someone who didn't know neopets 20 years ago or knows them now. I also didn't like the overall design. It seems they feel compelled to do something they don't feel like doing ...

People get connected to things emotionally, people love competition and this site has all that, i feel they haven't captivated Neopets correctly at all. I understand they only had a minute and i'm glad they are at least moving in some sort of forward direction even if it's executed poorly.
    I saw that ad and actually was like like wow... this makes my free time choice of games sound so stupid....

    Obvious stock parts, test accounts, and the beta doesn't even look good.
    No nostalgia what so ever.

    The people who put this together clearly have never played on the site before.
    It's almost like the neo team was like, ok here's the pages of the site we want to include, and then some stock footage, terrible transitions, and weirdly robotic voice over were all smashed together and the ad was born.

    Like others have already said, this has lowered my hopes for the new site launch tremendously.
    Why neo, why?!

    Playing devil's advocate here...

    The ad actually looks like they put some money and effort into it. It isn't the most creative, but at least it doesn't reek of intern. And don't forget that this is an ad trying to get people to return to Neopets, not an ad to impress the current player base. If I hadn't played Neopets for 10 years, "classic games" and "mobile" would've been enough for me to come back.

    The biggest problem isn't the ad—it's the players enticed to come back, discovering most of the site is still shit. Shitty bugs, shitty childproofing everywhere, lack of mobile conversion... Yeah, these returning players probably aren't going to stay.

    I just watched this morning :/ I was avoiding it because I was scared it'd be a dumpster fire. I really don't understand how this whole thing was conceptualized - it just seems so confused, and undirected and boring? It's a fun, aesthetically appealing site, it has name recognition, it has broad appeal across demographics, people are desperately looking for distractions right now - it shouldn't be this hard to market?

    With extraordinarily limited artistic skills, 98% of a liberal arts degree, and an hour of doodling, I came up with :



    ...and tbh it was fun, easy, and fairly obvious? This shit ain't hard, people.

    There's less than a thousand views on that youtube video. That's shockingly bad marketing? And a total waste of whatever resources they put into making it? I just feel like there's no strategy, or narrative, or direction, and if that's the case - it's almost better to save the money and time and just not advertise at all. Advertising is storytelling, and this reflects the general weakness of the narrative/lore/writing on the site since JS took over, which is frustrating to see.

    What a great storyboard!!! Ahhh your concept is so charming, I really love it! I'd love to see them run ads on Crunchyroll or Youtube tbh. Like, sponsored ads on Animal Crossing vids. I bet that there's a huge playerbase crossover there.
