UGH I freakin hate horror films. Why do people watch them!! I'm scared like a lil bitch
Pretty much the only one I've seen in the last 2 years is The Conjuring which was alright I suppose.
Title says it all. What's your favourite horror film(s) and why? What directors do you like?
Personally, my favourites (in no particular order) are:
Saw
The Lords of Salem
House of 1000 Corpses
The Devil's Rejects
I love the concept of Saw, and the first three Saw films were really good. And then I just don't know what happened.
I love Rob Zombie films because I appreciate his vision. I like his work. Just, everything about it to me is cinematic mastery.

Because a lot of them aren't that scary.
Thes ones I listed are not scary; they are more about gore and they have story.
Horror movies have become a broad genre. The Conjuring isn't actually that scary at all; it just has jump scares. That's the difference. That's also about paranormal things. Most movies I like are about serial killers/mass murderers.
I have a couple favorites, between those there is The Shutter (The original thai version, not the american one!!) and The Silence of the Lambs (and their sequels),
Some movies I enjoyed as well are Drag me to Hell, The Conjuring/s (I'm a sucker for based on true stories sequels) and House of Wax.
I really liked Saw too but indeed, they went from good to bad to very poor and lame ending to the series.

Silence of the Lambs is good. It's more of a drama but still can fall under the horror category.
Jump scares are always worse in the theatre versus at home. Anyone will get scared at a jump scare in the theatre; that's the whole point. So I typically prefer watching them at home so you're not bothered by people yelling/screaming or whining.
If you've never seen the Saw series, watch them. But only up until Saw 3. The ones after that just... Went downhill. The story just wasn't good anymore.

I don't want many horror movies because they make me too paranoid and jumpy for days after (had to sleep with the lights on all week after I watched the Exorcist lol). Supernatural movies freak me out more than anything, but I enjoy psychological horror/serial killer and other monster flicks. Off the top of my head the one I've enjoyed the most is The Shining.
Silence of the Lambs
My Bloody Valentine
The Shining
The Ring
I don't know if it counts as a horror film, but one of my favorites is The Conjuring. I really like how it's got a beginning, middle and end. It doesn't leave you hanging and I can watch it over and over and pick up little things I missed or simply enjoy it again.
What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
