Viacom paid like $160M for Neopets or something, so the speculation that Jumpstart probably paid millions to buy Neopets doesn't mean too much (as far as how much they care about the site goes)...
No worries, I am just defending the other side that we are all so quick to judge Neopets future on Viacom's path. JumpStart just paid a lot of money for Neopets, they will simply not just leave it be how it is. I can see more advertising like was mentioned which is good for the game, rather, it's needed.

Time will tell, but the art will stay the same, it's a proven product as it stands, so no need to change that. Yes, maybe, some kids will come play and get bored ,but like we all did, we all played when we were kids and we are still playing today. I am 26 been playing since it started, but many accounts later.

There is a conversation going around that JumpStart was interested in Neopets because the audience is older... This is good news for everyone as they will most likely look for what the older players do on a daily basis. (they can record this data and analyze it)

I will be excited if this new company decided to actually fix aspects of the site that the older players use on a daily basis (battledome/shops/kads/etc.)

Well, as long as they don't do a major overhaul of the site all at once like Viacom did, I have some hope haha. Conversion caused Neopets to lose at least half it's regular users, and the site can't go through something like that again. If they try to improve things slowly, and not do anything stupid like convert UCs or try to (somehow) cater even more towards children, I don't see much that they can do to make Neo any worse than it already is.

That is what I was trying to say and am glad you realize this also. The current playerb ase is mainly young adults and older users than JumpStart's current user base. They are branching out and trying to capture a bigger audience and blend them in a way that will not hurt either and keep site loyalty up. This is great news.

TNT just said jump start was interested because of the older audience (you need an account to see links)

So maybe this will be a good thing ?

Yeah, the fact that Viacom was trying to push themes aimed at preteens on young adults (and adults) was kind of ridic, like who are you kidding? Hopefully since Jumpstart actually acquired Neopets with the knowledge that the player base is older, they'll give TNT the go-ahead to make more age-appropriate plots etc

A caveat, though, "older" is a relative word, so if the average age of the player base on the Jumpstart website is 5-7, then even "9-11" is considered older. But when we read older, I'm pretty sure we're thinking something more along the lines of 18-25 or something

Continued from my post before, nowadays we actually have the tools to show what age is on a website on average per day, and for how long. Obviously this was given to JumpStart before they made their decision. I'm almost positive that teens and up are the main players and they can see what exactly it is they do on the site. JS will see players restocking, training their pets, in the BD, playing games and whatnot and will obviously put in the time to make these aspects of the site better.

For anyone who thinks this was a bad turn for Neopets, think again. The chances of this company bringing more life to neopets is really high.
