I agree with the above comments. I think the negg festival art is very good. Some of the items and new pet releases seem to have been rushed, without the needed attention to detail. Hopefully we continue to see an upward trend in the quality!
Honestly the art quality on neo varies so wildly it wouldn't surprise me if they only had one or two artists on staff and were contracting the rest out. The quality difference between items even released at close to the same time can be so different I don't think it can only be attributed to time crunch.

I feel like items that are part of a big event - GMC, AC, Negg Fest - always have a little more effort put into them, since they're not just one-offs.
That being said... the one-off game has improved lately
Not really no, maybe new items are slightly less ugly but they're still so gaudy and cartoony. I miss more realistic wearables like the old bgs (Stunning, Star Gazing, Great Big Outdoors, Winter Moon, Blue Moon Field bg for example)

Either one of the artist is improving, or they got a new artist. I think it's the latter. The thing that makes me believe this is how some of the wigs that have been released lately have been drawn.
Where usually JS will draw their wigs with almost each strand of hair being individualize, making the wig look thin and small. I've noticed that a few new wigs that have been released lately like the Yellow Wig with Flowers, seems to be going back to the old Viacom style, where hair is more grouped together and the wigs look to have more volume/look fuller.
I only came back a couple months ago so I don’t have much to compare, but what I have noticed is what looks like sloppy resizing? The art of the new spring ona is adorable, HOWEVER the lines are all thin and pixelly RIP

I honestly think they put more effort into the NC mall stuff over anything NP related, gotta con people into buying the good looking stuff because people are magpies (ooh shiney!)

One thing I liked about the old art (very old) in the NC items was the sharper quality when it was resized (i.e the pet image size on lookups), the lines were more clear. In comparison to the nc items now, where things look a lot blurrier on the lookup pet image. Yes I do the most recent NC items released have better art, although a different style compared to previously (maybe last year??).
its a case of hit or miss. i just feel like over the past few months it can swing either way. there hasn't been 1 style lately and things keep changing up every now and then.
too unpredictable.
I agree with this. Some items it actually looks like they cared about the time spent on the intricate details while others look mediocre at best...
It makes me wonder though about the future of nc wearables vs np wearables in particular because for example, Charming Spring Background isn't a nc item but is somewhat animated
Kinda curious if the format they use for nc is the same as the one for that background, or if it makes a difference
