i've been trying to trade for a couple of days but it's not giving me the option to trade for one of their pets, only to just straight up transfer. is trading pets disabled too now or am i just slow?

Works for me.
Just in case you weren't aware, you have to proceed as if you are simply sending a pet before it displays the option to exchange pets.
Another problem could be that you don't have enough NP to afford the adoption fee of the pet you want.
Maybe their pets have stats? And then you need more nps in hand to be able to offer on those pets? o-o
You have to have enough NPs out to be able to afford the transfer. It will only show pets available according to how much you can afford.. going by the NPs you have on had.
So withdraw a few more out and try the transfer again. It should show the pet you want to transfer for.

Oh my gosh that was it. I didn't have enough np so it just didn't display the extra link at the bottom instead of telling me i didn't have enough np lol
