    Best Free Antivirus/spyware/adware/etc

What free software do you use to protect your computer?

I really don't feel like spending $50 for Norton... I hate Norton, but some of my free stuff isn't quite doing the trick.

Post some recommendations for free computer protection!

Honestly I have a 5 year old computer that never once received a virus. You just got to be smart about what you do.

Here's a couple recommendations though, I use these a lot when pirating

Online scanner, even detects viruses considered to be 'FUD' (fully undetectable): (you need an account to see links)
Malwarebytes local scanner: (you need an account to see links)

If you are using Windows, you can get a free one that is probably the best available called Microsoft Security Essentials. Comes free with Windows Updates.

    Thanks for the feedback!

My wife's debit card was frozen for suspicious activity, some website tried to charge her for something, so this ones not my fault! I had a keylogger years ago, but I think this was just my wife purchasing something from a fishy website.

    AVG is pretty good!

I, personally, have used Avast. No problems yet C:

And, for the love of god, NEVER GIVE INTO NORTON :C

I use Avast! because AVG kept saying Neo-related programs were viruses and wasn't letting me use them. It's blocked most threats I've received so I'd recommend either Avast! or AVG.
