yeah, previous negg festivals have also had this neggfest-on-top-of-neggfest activity. 2021 featured (you need an account to see links) and 2022 and 2023 both had an additional activity to get a free new petpet. you might not need to do it all eight days to get it though?

From what it sounds like, you can do catch up clicks all the way up to the current progress cap, although I don't know if the side event has any qualifiers for day of release. You will have to do all eight sightings to clear it, though.
