No more "boring' items!

Found on the site today and JN confirmed, pets will no longer randomly refuse to eat foods, read books or play with petpets! What a huge W

Full confirmation from JN:

1. Pet Care - Down with boring books! We are trying to break from a long-time Neopets tradition of your neopets hating things for no particular reason.
2. NC Purchase - Improved NC purchase and redeem process. Users should see updated NC balance swiftly.
3. Premium Subscription - Fixed a scenario where premium perks were not updated and synced with renewal date.
4. Neoboard Reporting - When reports are made on first post of a Neoboard thread, a fix was made to ensure the report does not have issues and gives feedback.

This is exciting news—we have confirmed that this means your Neopets will no longer refuse certain items:

1. Books won't be boring
2. Foods (and notably Gourmet Foods) won't be yucky
3. Petpets will not refuse to attach
4. Toys won't be boring

If you had anything your pet wouldn't like to eat or read or perhaps a petpet that wouldn't attach - it should now work! That includes magical toys or food items that may have changed your pet will now work!

Such good news! I always thought that was such a pointless feature. I spent a TON on a book before and my pet refused to read it

This is actually a nice QoL change because I keep the same brush in my inventory at all times for daily quests, and like 3 of my pets won't freaking use it. I don't pay attention to which one I'm using it on half the time and it's annoying lol.

I literally had a boring book today that even disappeared when I changed to another language because it's so new. Luckily I hadn't thrown it away yet and just read it to my pet!

Yeah, it sucks if it's one you wanted attached and all - but it was a silly and funny feature (in my opinion, anyway)

Honestly same, I really like a lot of OG-Neopets's random lil quirks like this--- but when language support was dropped and there was no longer a workaround to get pets to do this stuff despite the quirkiness (new releases did not have translated titles that changed their name length), that's when I started having a problem with it. It made some pets functionally (sometimes literally) ineligible for book (and probably also gourmet) trophies. Since it's determined by the number of letters in a pet's name, some pets had big advantages and disadvantages (I did the math once, though I forget what it came out to now. A 1-character pet will find no books boring, but some name lengths can find dozens, if not even hundreds, of books boring. And when the high score table is so close that a few books makes-or-breaks your placement, having dozens of books inaccessible to you is a big issue)

RIP to an OG-Neopets bit of levity and random fun, but welcome to a new way of life that makes sense for the modern times, I guess
