Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball Z Kai?

Which of these two versions should I watch? Ive never really fully watched dragon ball Z

I've only ever watched DBZ, never Kai. I'd be interested to hear from those that have seen both too!

100% DBZ imo

That's a tough one for me. I grew up watching the OG DBZ as it aired on TV - so it'll always be my #1 choice. It does have a LOT of filler episodes though, which honestly aren't too bad at all. (Maybe I'm biased cause I just enjoy the characters and the show)

I watched KAI and it was kind of straightforward? I think? IIRC it follows the manga and story more how it was supposed to be.

I think I would probably recommend DBZ in the end though! And if you haven't, DragonBall was a fantastic watch also. Kid Goku cracks me the hell up.

+1 for regular DBZ, but if you want to skip the filler there are lists you can look up for what episodes to skip. I recommend at least one filler, the driving instructor one. It never fails to make me laugh. And also yes Dragon Ball is really good too, I actually go back and watch it more than DBZ. You get to see how all of the characters met and more context around how Goku is.

As a kid I was more about action. As I've gotten older I've started to prefer jokes and story. I love seeing the characters context. That and its' just so funny

Kai skips the filler. I'm not sure about the English version, but in Japanese there's not really any major dialogue changes, so it's really just Z without the fluff. It just never went past Cell, so you're stuck with filler once you get to Buu,

I watched Kai first, and tbh I preferred it.
