    Anyone here taking anxiety medication?

I've just started taking 10mg of Prozac after resisting meds for a really long time. I didn't want to take it, but my nervous system is so out of whack it's making it hard to function day to day. I'm doing other things to help like therapy and journalling, but I got myself in such a state that I finally decided to try meds, at least for a bit until I'm in a better spot mentally. It was so bad that I was barely leaving the house at one point.

What are your experiences with taking anxiety medication? Does it help your anxiety, why or why not?

I take sertraline, it dropped my anxiety from like 90% to like 60%. Arbritrary numbers of course, but basically, only moderately helpful.

I take 20mg Escitalopram and 100mg Quetiapine for my depression and anxiety

I've found it helps me a lot
I can leave the house without worrying what people are thinking of me (they aren't thinking of me at all lol) and I don't feel uneasy or upset anymore randomly

I think the key is finding a medication that works well for you
    It'll affect everyone differently
What works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa

I'm on sertraline, the first month was a BIG change, all my bad thoughts stopped and started to live normally but things drop severely after like 6 months or so, I kept taking it and after 1 years I can say Im regulated. It's not easy, but once you recover yourself a little start doing changes for your future self, for me it was fixing my room since It was always a mess, and felt bad about it, then I made a system to easily keep it clean even when I'm in bad days

When I went in for my surgery in the hospital I was given 2 (10mg) Diazepam meds for my anxiety (I was being put out fully) so my anxiety was through the roof. The pills kicked in about 10-15 minutes later (Felt very woozy/relaxed and giggly) and was told to take it prior to my appointment.

Not sure this helps but that's what I was prescribed for the day

I've been on anxiety/depression meds for ages (15+ years) and so here's what I've learned.

There are lots of different kinds of meds so changing what you're taking isn't a big thing. If you're not on the same thing as everyone else don't worry about it.

Dosage and type aren't a one size fits all. You have to work on it to find what does and doesn't work for you. For me I've been on Prozac for several years now but when I started I had to play around to see what dose worked. 10mg was to low and 20mg was to high. It took some time to feel the effects and find that 15mg was what I needed.

As time goes on your need to the dose your on will change. You could need a different brand, more, less, *shrug* times change and you change with it. What matters is that you keep your doctors up to date with whats going on with you.

I had more but migraine meds kicked in and I lost the thread. Basically, meds are good and it can take time to find the one that works for you. :3

I will add, a lot of my anxiety comes from unmedicated ADD. Currently supply chain issues. Once I get on consistent medication, I am hoping my anxiety will drop significantly.

i've tried tons of different anxiety/depression/anti-psychotic meds and had such bad experiences. right now though i'm on zoloft and it's helping some. if you can find the right medicine for you, it's definitely worth it. i hope everything works out for you!

I just started taking 20mg citalopram for anxiety and depression, going on two weeks. It’s honestly done wonders for me. The anxiety hasn’t 100% gone away but I feel that my body is better equipped at handling it, nonetheless I’d say it has drastically decreased. It’s also helping me to block out negative thoughts and emotions and to focus more on positive things. I’m still trying to adjust to the side effects but so far I’ve only experienced fatigue and a bit of insomnia.

I've been on 10mg of Buspar for about 2 and a half months now. The difference I feel is outstanding. It's not a cure all but I do wish I was listened to way sooner about my anxiety disorder. In my case it was so bad that I was not eating at home.
